Fancy strutting your stuff around town looking like a young mod Pete Townshend? Well, unless you fancy going buying a tailor made union flag blazer, you could be a little bit lazy and buy this hip Paul Smith shirt .
Part of the Mainline range, this fitted shirt has a muted/soft Union Jack print and features a cut out cuff with two fastenings and an elongated collar (which you can stiffen with, well, collar stiffeners if desired). It’s 100% cotton and is retailing at £155. Perfect for the summer. Click here to buy and for more infomation.
Why should women get all the curve boosting technology? It’s tit for tat in the body fakery stakes as Aussie Bum have come up with their Wonderjock technology that lifts and enhances your ‘area’. There’s no padding as Wonderjock designer Sean Ashby explained: "The design of the underwear, separates and lifts. The fabric cup
protrudes everything out in front instead of down toward the ground. There is no padding, rings or strings." Selling 50,000 in it’s first week the Wonderjock pants have proved incredibly popular and at just £8.50 it’s little wonder.
Pantherella socks are made from Egyptian cotton and come in enough colours that you can match them to your outfit. They’ve got hand finished toes which basically means a smooth finish and a guarantee of good quality. These socks are the perfect finishing touch if you’ve just splashed out on a bespoke suit and at £8.50 they won’t break the bank; you can purchase them online from Wood’s of Shropshire.
Most lightweight jackets doing the rounds at the moment are in sombre khakis and shades of greys. For those of you who are a little more daring, you should be looking toward this great Nike Carl Reissure Jacket.
In bright red, you’ll be noticed (for all the right reasons obviously) and it’s super light to keep you cool now that the sun is gracing us with its presence again. It’s retailing for £75 and available from Urban Outfitters. For those of you less daring, the jacket also comes in black, but it’s the red one that will catch the eye.
Hardened eBayers will no doubt be aware of this useful trick, but some of you might just be paying over the odds for your footwear! You should know that Adidas is a German brand (founded by Adi Dassler… hence the name) so where is the best place to look for your three stripes? In Germany of course!
Most people go straight to eBay.com or eBay.co.uk when looking to bid, but how many of you look to eBay.de (the German eBay) or eBay.fr (the French one obviously). Looking on the German eBay reveals a treasure trove of very cheap Adidas gear, much of it not available on these shores! Don’t be afraid of the language barrier either. If you’re looking on the German site click the Diesen Artikel Beobchten which means ‘watch this item’, log into the English version, go into My eBay, Items I’m Watching and BINGO! There’s you item! Happy hunting.
It’s a lot of money to pay for a joke, but this watchstrap bracelet from Browns is pure Martin Margiela po-faced humour with it’s face-less watch bezel. The mysterious designer has never been photographed in public so I can’t help but think of his face every time I see this bracelet. The bracelet will set you back £155, and I think it would be a little ridiculous to wear but I’ve fallen in love with the concept. How’s about £2.50 for the concept Martin?
Filippa K is a name to watch at the moment, the Swedish designer’s latest collection is at the forefront of the new minimalism. One of my favourite items are these soft grey leather lace ups. Somewhere between an ankle boots and a shoe (perhaps the men’s equivalent of a schboot?) they look very unassuming but the tinge of lilac in the grey gives them a refined je ne sais quoi. Filippa K has stores across Scandinavia, and is stocked in stores in the rest of the world.
Every Easter in New York they have a wonderful Easter Parade, but unlike the overblown Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade the Easter Parade is an altogether more genteel affair. Donning their finest hats and suits people parade down Manhattan’s streets looking very sophisticated. The Sartorialisthad some wonderful pictures up last year, and this year the pictures are just as good. The images capture New York and the pleasure of dressing up brilliantly.
This might be the last thing on your mind if you’ve planned to booze it up but Easter Weekend is the perfect time to stock up on new summer clothes. The overall looks on the high street are fresh and casual with hints of formal wear in accessories and tailoring. White is quite big, the New Look suit on the right is very cool, and after the jump French Connection have got an equally spanking outfit in pale tones. I think Matalan have obviously been reading my post on the René Lacoste shoes because they’ve got the retro french sportsman look down to a t. River Island are sharpening up their act with some great pieces for this season, and it’s a great place to head for a more street look, see after the jump, right.
Villebrequin’s gaudy print trunks are de rigeur amongst the wealthy and the well-bred; they’ve been spotted on Tony Blair and Simon Cowell but don’t let that put you off. Wear with a polo shirt, deck shoes, knotted jumper and a sense of irony. For something a bit sexier Orlebar Brown’s fitted shorts cling to every curve. If you fancy something even smaller Sloggi do an Aruba mini brief which I’m not going to show here for my eye’s sake. See after the jump for some blue checked shorts, lifeguard trunks, gingham swim shorts and OTT gold trunks I dare someone to wear.
Jack Bauer is fast becoming some kind of modern day icon. He’s always talked about in giddy tones and students and real human beings love him in equal measures! There are a lot of 24 related bits out there, but none of them hold a candle to this T-Shirt from Nerdy Shirts.
For a paltry $20, you can sport this slightly psychedelic Bauer on your chest and run around shouting "Chloe, Patch me through to DoD and set up a perimeter around the location. No one gets in or out unless I say so. I give you my word!"
We all know how dire TV can get. Whether Gillian McKeith foraging around in some poor sods stools or yet another property programme telling us about houses that we can’t afford, by and large, it’s an infuriating business.
Elvis used to deal with bad TV by shooting it. Of course, we aren’t all wealthy enough to go through 365 tellies a year, so get your own back on the box with this fine Shooting TVs Tee. It’s 100% cotton, available in the featured red as well as a nice dark blue and retailing at £28. It’s handwash only so it might be one you want to keep for best. Looks great and available to buy by clicking here.
Are you thinking of the coming summer months and wondering what to wear? Then you need a style icon to guide and inspire you and who better than Alan Partridge? Watch as he guides us through stylish looks for a holiday in Paris. ‘Cruiser Arriviste’ comes complete with string-back driving gloves, while ‘L’Homme du Sport’ is a fierce combination of ice white trainers and socks with a ‘chevron action flash’ t-shirt. ‘Imperial Leisure’ is inspired by Nigel Havers and his last look, ‘Strolling Pastel’ is a powerful combo of shorts and a suit. Follow your leader!
I’m in love with these Lacoste ‘René’ pumps from Office (£49.99), I’ve been saying ‘Oh René’ over and over again in my head in the style of Allo’ Allo’. You can’t beat them for retro simplicity, they will look great with some grey slacks and a polo shirt for a relaxed summer look. Taking your style cues from René Lacoste himself, France’s tennis champion from the ’20s and ’30s is a much better idea than using say Wayne Rooney or Freddie Flintoff for your sartorial inspiration.
