Paulsmithjumper

This Paul Smith jumper is simple but great.  It’s an effective red on cream striped knitted crew neck jumper with long sleeves and made from 100% cotton. It’s going for £95, which is a little pricey, but you’re getting something from one of the masters of clothing design, so you can’t really grumble.

American readers will be sad to hear that this particular item isn’t available to you, but I’m sure you have some pals in the UK that you could ask nicely to send one over. Also available in black and white for the Parisian in you.

Kellogg’s Frosties old-school t-shirt. It’s greeeeeaaaat!

By ShinyMedia on February 12th, 2007

5213421489601_med
In the real world, tigers probably don’t eat sugar-frosted flakes, but we can forgive Kellogg’s for not knowing that, because Tony the Tiger (Anthony to his mum) is one of our all-time favourite cereal-related characters. He’s positive, he doesn’t eat people alive and he has a really greeeeaaat catchphrase.

By wearing this splendid t-shirt, you can pledge your allegiance to Tony and all that he stands for. Available from Urban Outfitters, for £28. BUY IT

Haynes Manual bag

By Isabelle on February 12th, 2007

Sbhay011
Ah the Haynes Manual, brings back memories of when my dad was a mechanic. He would come in from the garage at night, wash his oily hands in Swarfega and then show us all the terrible injuries he’d sustained during the day over a Fosters or Supermalt (for him) and Turkish Delights (for me and my sister). Fond memories aside, the distinctive design of the Haynes Manual has become a classic and how better to show your car geekery roots than with a Haynes bag? It features a ‘groovy’ VW camper van and costs £17.99 from Hiccup gifts where you can buy matching Haynes mugs, keyrings and wallets. What I want to know is when they’re bringing out the Opel Kadett bag or the Nissan Sunny bag?

Yardie Cardigan

By mofgimmers on February 9th, 2007

Cardigan

The Yardie Cardigan is a luxurious number that is made from a luxurious cashmere-wool mix. It was based on the original Duffer Yardie Cardie and is available in two colours (blue and the featured ‘chocolate chip’). Reminscent of the classic teddy knits from the late fifties and early sixties, the Yardie has three vertical stripes that run down either side of the cardigan in a lighter shade with fully fashioned patch pockets.

Specially made Duffer shank buttons in enamel match the body colour of the cardigan and the cardigan is neatly capped off with finely ribbed hem and cuffs, giving it a much better shape and fit when being worn. It was £150, but is now on sale for £59. Knits are in, and the weather makes it the perfect time to get in on it. BUY IT

Fink Herringbone Field Blazer

By mofgimmers on February 1st, 2007

Blazer

It’s no longer a no-no to wear a smart jacket with a pair of jeans. Once, only ponytailed balding directors would be seen in that garb, but with a little taste, you can look great with a smart blazer and your fave denim. One fine example is the Fink Herringbone Field Blazer which is cut slim and long. It has a 3-button placket with button flap chest and side pockets.

In the detail, it has one-button cuffs, 2 inside pockets, a double-vented back as well as being fully lined. Good news is that it’s machine washable so you don’t have to keep running down to the dry cleaners with it. It’s a cotton/polyester mix and going for a very reasonable $88.00 (about £45)

Good to see the Great Bard, aka Shakey, aka MC Bill, getting some t-shirt slogan love at last. ‘Exit, pursued by a bear…’ is a stage direction from ‘The Winter’s Tale’. As stage directions go, they don’t get more explicit than that.

This, and a range of other Shakespeare-inspired tees, is available from conceptshirts.co.uk. Price = £16.90 to you sunshine. BUY IT

Beaver Hat

By mofgimmers on January 29th, 2007

Beaver_hatLet’s face it. It’s cold and miserable outside. In Britain, it’s mostly cold and miserable. If global warming experts are to be believed, then the UK is just going to get colder and colder. One good thing about the chill is that you get to wear more stylish gear, and what better way to make an impression than sporting this fine Beaver Hat from Barney’s in New York?

The Sheared Beaver Hat is going for $595.00 and has a quilted lining to make sure your head stays super warm. As it’s sheared beaver, I presume it means there wasn’t any culling going on to make it. It’s made in Canada, and they know a thing or two about staying warm. Also available in black. BUY IT

Paul Smith double breasted check jacket

By mofgimmers on January 26th, 2007

Sir Paul Smith is an English fashion icon. After taking up fashion design after having been injured in a cycling accident, he set up his first shop in Nottingham in 1970 and gradually expanded his retail business into one of the leading design outlets in the world.

In his PS Collection, we find this cracking double breasted check coat which is lined, and features a great floral detail on the inside pocket. It’s 75% wool 25% nylon, and would look great both out and about, or in a more formal occassion. Either that or people with think you look like a seventies detective… which is no bad thing surely? California Surf Co. Rainbow Wave t-shirt

By ShinyMedia on January 22nd, 2007

3_500
‘California’, ‘surf’… two words that conjure up images of fit, tanned bodies and sunshine and golden beaches and hot-panted girls on roller skates. For those readers unfortunate enough to live in Hull (where, I’m reliably informed, the surf is crap) rather than Cali, take comfort in this lovely t-shirt, with its cool retro graphic on the chest.

Available from Ark’s online shop, for £24.95. BUY IT

Design classic: Helly Hansen striped crew top

By ShinyMedia on January 18th, 2007

21884500
I own no less than three Helly Hansen long-sleeved crewneck tops, and, who knows, I may not stop there. They’re so damn versatile – wear them as a base layer or an outer layer for jogging or mountain biking or snowboarding or just lounging around the house.

The wicking fabric means they dry in a matter of minutes, leaving you dry underneath too. Each top is made from soft Meraklon polypropylene, so you hardly know you’re wearing it, while flat-stitched seams eliminate irritating scratchiness. At £25 a pop, this is an essential item for any active chap’s wardrobe. BUY IT

T-Qualizer Shirt

By mofgimmers on January 18th, 2007

Tqualizer_anim

A T-Shirt is just a T-Shirt right? It’s either got a good design or it’s functional. Anything to waver from that leaves with Global Hypercolor… and all that did was alert everyone to your sweaty armpits. Well, not anymore.

ThinkGeek has unearthed this marvelous space age Tee that comes complete with a fully functioning graphic equalizer emblazoned across the chest (unfortunately our picture doesn’t do it justice… but it actually moves!). So, now you can do the robot with the glowing display on the T-Qualizer that dynamically changes with any ambient sound or music. This is one of the coolest T Shirts seen in a long long time. Retailing at $40. BUY IT

Would you buy Asda’s £19 suit?

By ShinyMedia on January 16th, 2007

Asdasuit_468x769
Asda has just launched what it claims is Britain’s cheapest suit. Customers can now pick up the suit for just £19 as part of Asda’s George clothing range. Normally the jacket would retail at £19 and the
trousers at £6 – still bloody cheap. I’m not sure I could face wearing a suit that costs less than a couple of KFC family buckets. A suit is a special garment and you shouldn’t cut corners when buying one.

But for one week the supermarket is giving away the trousers for free when customers buy a jacket. George’s managing director, Angela Spindler, said: ‘It is not a
stitch-up I assure you. You really can be a cut above the rest with
change from £20 thanks to George.’ So many puns, Angela!

The machine-washable, black, single-breasted suit is on sale now. Not sure what it’s made from, but it sure as hell isn’t wool. Polyester, we guess.
