Brand Spotlight, Clothing
By Laura on November 25th, 2010
We recently came across Unconditional Clothing and loved this seasons collection. The London based fashion label was founded by Philip Stephens in 2000 as a small one off collection for Concrete shop in Soho.
The high-end menswear line has certainly grown since then, and has now shown at both London and New York Fashion weeks. Unconditional has however stayed true to its London roots which is demonstrated in its edgy yet laid back collection.
The backbone of each collection is a unique range of ‘luxury basics’ with an attention to detail and tailoring. They are also dedicated to using pure, natural, and ethically produced fabrics and yarns to make their clothing. In recent months the label has been receiving a lot of celebrity attention from the likes of Orlando Bloom, David Beckham, Kanye West, and Tinie Tempah.
Check out some of our favourite looks from the current collection below.

Brand Spotlight, Clothing
By Laura on November 19th, 2010
Gap is not a brand that we have paid much attention to over the past few years. So when we saw images from the 2011 spring collection, we were surprised to see what a great job they have done to turn around the brand and make it relevant again.
Creative director Patrick Robinson explained the new directions stating they wanted to create a collection that reflects what “modern means in America today, for a 25- to 35-year-old…That’s what we export. Not anything ‘heritage’ or referenced in the past. Today.” This is an interesting remark considering the brand is often criticized for being stuck in the past.
For Robinson, the pant takes front and center in 2011, with pants and a shirt worn sockless with tasseled loafers, as well as a range of interesting and quite flamboyant colors for Gap.
In addition Robinson has insisted that the brand will no feature tables in their stores “with one sweater in 30 colors,” he said. Rather than multiple duplications Gap will being to show specific pieces that connoted authenticity and individuality.
It really feels like Gap is heading in a new direction, that Robinson perhaps described best: “It’s just what cooler, sexier, younger people want right now.”

This weekend bonfires and firework work displays will be taking place across the country for Guy Fawkes Night. To celebrate Topman has created a really cool collection of limited edition monochromatic t-shirts based on the now infamous 1605 gunpowder plot.
The shirts are a part of the A.D project, a concept graphic t-shirt collection that takes inspiration from historical events that have helped to shape London into the City that it is today. All of the shirts are individually hand printed in London, making each one unique.
The shirts retail for £20 and are available here

Clothing, Coats & Jackets, features, Gallery

When it comes to winter jackets there is a fantastic collection this season for you to choose from. Starting with the casual ones focused on in this post, it’s hard to overlook Penfield’s efforts and with a seemingly expanded line of outerwear and a lot of stockists it is set to be the choice of many in the coming months. In the gallery below is their Summit Woodland Parka which is available at Urban Outfitters, but do not overlook other jackets in their collection most of which is available at Urban Industry.
They may now be a cliche, but quilted jackets are certainly still relevant this winter. Instead of choosing a Barbour like we all have, try Lavenham. They are cut shorted and slimmer and whilst they may cost a bit more than your standard Liddesdale they are certainly worth it in terms and quality and aesthetics. The Lavenham Raydon Quilted Jacket is available at ASOS.
Cheap Monday continue to impress with more than their denim this season and the Grey Canvas Parka in the gallery certainly proves this. Over-sized and simple, it’s nice to see a jacket so often associated with green and Mod revivalists being given a refreshing makeover.

ASOS have just unveiled a new trend for the Autumn and it actually does their own brand collection justice. It’s a well thought out, solid collection that’s accessible and well styled, continuing the outdoor trend that has lasted a few seasons it seems to have taken the best elements of some them such as Fairisle knits, but left out the worst, like mens fringed moccasins. Here is how ASOS described the collection and below is a gallery of some of the picks of the collection. View the full collection HERE.
‘Scanning the wilderness of North America, Scotland and Scandinavia, Nomad is a look grounded in the history of cross-continental adventure. Playing with ethnic patterns and texture is vital, with Navajo and Fairisle mixing like never before. It’s a look obviously influenced by the wandering tribes and their distinctive take on the functional, yet is equally at home in town. It’s time to take a journey to the great outdoors…’

In the past couple of winters Fairisle knits have become a staple item to keep you warm in our cold winters. The trend also seems to be holding it’s ground with yet more garish patterns lined up for you to wear in the coming months. Alongside all of the styles below, I suggest you check out charity shops as you can get some real finds, but the problem is, first of all, you never quite get rid of the smell no matter how much you wash it, and secondly, the vintage styles tend to have very baggy arms which looks cute on women, but less desirable on men. The selections below are all available at Hip.
Hat by Y.M.C £40
Cardigan by Farah Vintage £85
Crew by Y.M.C £110

Exclusive to Urban Outfitters, these Generic Frame chinos are some of the nicest to be released this summer. Not to be confused with a carrot fit, these taper consistently the whole way down. Available in navy, grey and beige for £55 at Urban Outfitters.

Clothing, features, Suits & Tailoring
By ThomasHewetson on August 4th, 2010
You can now view the A/W lookbook on the Reiss website. With 58 looks for the mainline collection and 19 for the 1971 collection there are plenty to choose from. The mainline collection is really nice this season, keeping the brand’s signature slim tailoring that gives the brand a sophistication rarely seen from a none designer brand. I’m not too much of a fan of the 1971 collection. Certain pieces are beautiful like the sheepskin leather below, but as a collection, it doesn’t have the identity of the mainline collection and there are certainly other brands of the same nature that execute the look of the 1971 collection a lot better.

This striped crew neck from All Saints is a welcome break from their in your face graphics which seem to have been taken over by former River Island shoppers. All Saints boasted a really great basics range which often gets looked over in favour of skeletons and skeletons with other skeletons. You can pick it up on the All Saints website for £40.
