The mid season sales have started and one of my favorite things I’ve spotted is this amazing asymmetric long-line hoody. Reduced from £325 to £181 with a beautiful shape, and perfect for the spring to summer transition, all the sizes are still available so you have no excuses.
The cropped duffel coat is the perfect coat to transfer from spring to summer in. Made out of lightweight cotton, there are loads around a the moment. This one from All Saints is my pick. Easy to dress up or down, this update of a classic is a must have for your spring wardrobe.
This parka from YMC with it’s asymmetrical buttoning and wooden toggles is the perfect lightweight jacket for spring. It’s waxed so it’s waterproof and if you don’t fancy the beige colourway, then ASOS are stocking a navy version.
In order to mark the arrival of Oliver Spencer’s collection at My-Wardrobe.com, the young British designer has produced a special one-off exclusive to the online retailer.
Rendered in a subtle check fabric from a mill in Northern Italy, the Gardeners’ Jacket is an unstructured garment with a utilitarian feel: four buttons, two large patch pockets, a smaller ticket pocket and a chest pocket with flap.
Made in London with the my-wardrobe.com customer in mind, only six of these jackets have been produced. I must admit I quite like it, though for over £300 maybe I would be expecting something, well, a little more flashy. Still, it does look simple and stylish and at least you can be sure not to bump into loads of other people wearing the same design.

Winter is often a season of necessity versus beauty. Unless one has enough in his wallet to buy a piece like this Alexander McQueen (a cool £1,095,) fashionistos are left to settle for cheap and not always stylish alternatives. The gilet (or body-warmer) is a fickle fashion item and this season it has been made-up in enticing chambray by label Wings + Horns.
Gilets often look awful; after all, the Michelin Man-look has never suited anyone. However, when worn over-sized and unzipped with skinny jeans and leather brogues, your padded-tube of fabric becomes the key component of a high-fashion look.
I would say ‘Yay’ to the idea of a gilet- simply follow Brandish’s style advice and you’ll be looking awesome anyway!
Its raining its pouring, and if you’d forgotten about the need to cover up you may be considering a new rainwear purchase. With outdoor gear like mountaineering boots already looking hot for autumn, embrace your inner fisherman now and head into the deluge in a traditional yellow rain mac. Topman have a lightweight zip-up version availalable, perfect for staying visible in a wet festival. For something longer lasting that will see you through to autumn’s downfalls there’s this beauty from ASOS or the most authentic of the lot (courtesy of Valet) is this shiny, yellow raincoat by L.L Bean. Avoid brightly coloured wellingtons to fend off the worst Paddington Bear comments.
The second instalment of our summer picks from menswear buyer Lee Douros. There are some beautiful items that will take you stylishly into autumn including a wonderful pair of cornflower blue deck shoes.
Having made their first foray into menswear my-wardrobe have got some exciting brands on board for Autumn, can’t wait for their A/W picks!
You can rely on Alber Elbaz and Lucas Ossendrijver to deliver a great collection and they did. This collection for Lanvin was typically elegant affair, with the très chic suits and kimono-style jackets. Irreverent touches like trousers and suits made from tie silk reinforce Elbaz’s gentle sense of humour and sandals worn with socks gave a geeky twist to the look.
Lee Douros is the menswear buyer for my-wardrobe and at the last press day we had a great chat with him about men’s clothing and the online side of things. Lee definitely knows his stuff, so we were thrilled when he agreed to present his top summer picks for us. If you’re still stuck for high-summer chic then this is like the holy grail. It’s been a little while for me since The Sartorialist featured a must-have-item, but the artful combination of this olive green army field jacket worn over a suit had me searching for a similar jacket. An iconic item in the US, they’re available from the high-end (Ralph Lauren Black Label) to army surplus stores. Somehow, the olive green colour and the fact that it’s a purposeful, military item overrides the jacket’s essential scruffiness allowing it to combine well with smarter, more conventional items.
For a more youthful take on this Milano’s estimable style, try combining with a slim fitting suit. Or my killer suggestion for warmer days: over a white fitted shirt with knitted black tie, faded jeans and tan brogues – thus combining Citizen Smith urban revolutionary with classic City smartness. ‘Freedom for Tooting’ indeed.
Clearly Monty’s a hottie – before you scoff at the idea consider how you might like to look at nearly 60. Still got a full head of hair? Twinkly eyes? And his signature garment – that utilitarian, gardening blazer in navy blue is having a moment.
Cos have a lovely, fitted version. In a heavy 100% cotton fabric, pre-washed to give it an authentic, aged look it’s slightly more structured than the gardening equivalent and would look super with pressed indigo jeans, a floral shirt and perhaps a bow tie if you’re feeling foppish. I loved Will’s suggestion of carrying a wicker basket the other day but if you think it might mean you’d get a kicking on the bus to Peckham, a hessian or jute shopper is a safer alternative.
I’ve been searching for the ‘perfect’ denim jacket for a while now, and this one by Nudie at ASOS comes pretty close. Pale, and ‘vintage looking’ It’s also short on the waist (essential), fitted, and (crucially) has no side pockets, this ensures that it won’t go baggy over time at the sides, as you won’t be tempted to shove your hands in your pockets.
I plan to layer mine, with a cashmere knit and white T or a hoodie on chilly days, dressed up over a fitted shirt and tie, definitely mismatched with super-dark indigo jeans.
Whilst denim purists would have you rummaging in smelly warehouses for an original Lee Stormrider, I’d say make it simple with this beauty.
When you see a photo of a teen wearing a prom tuxedo jacket fashioned entirely from Coke cans, you have to wonder what the teen in question does with their free time. This guy, a Napoleon Dynamite-lookalike with a penchant for commercialism, has decided to venture into eco-friendly fashion and after the jump you can witness the entire creation of the waistcoat and jacket (plus bowtie!) from metal to masterpiece. Sadly, this look is more Sideshow Bob than Stella McCartney.
