Henrik Vibskov’s Fantabulous Bicycle Music Factory collection

I’ve just stumbled across Henrik Vibskov’s menswear collection and on first glance it’s a bit intimidating but I’m intrigued by the brick print tank top and I love what he’s doing with madras. Individually I think the pieces are really strong and the Aztec/computer game pixellated knits are the height of geek chic.

Dior silver suit – Yay or Nay?

First things first – why are the pictures on Yoox.com of such poor quality? They make Asos.com’s pictures look like a Rankin masterpiece. I wouldn’t usually complain about these things, but when it comes to this Dior Homme silver suit, you need high quality pictures to make a decision.

Top Five: Euroflash- Masculinity or Insecurity?

Will Reid Designer Spotlight, Lifestyle & Gadgets, Top Five 3 Comments

With guidebook and ability to say thank-you in tow, I was an innocent tourist. At least that was until I saw him from across the road. The letters emblazoned on his back in plush gold velvet shone with insecurity- “Vagina Lover.” Welcome to testosterone Euroflash-style.

Fred Perry X Paul Weller

admin Clothing, Designer Spotlight, News Leave a Comment

perryweller.jpg

Paul Weller and Fred Perry are so deeply
linked that you wonder why he hasn’t just gave up the music stuff and just
started working for them full time. It’s not like anyone wants to hear a new
album from him. This collection of polo shirts, due for release in
June, are pretty much what we’ve come to expect from their collaborations, in a
good way.

Trends: Watch & Wear-Public School Drool

bout2.jpg
Out of show season, it gets just that bit harder to predict the trends. However, in typical fashion, the industry moves on; someone gets a haircut, a designer does a high-street collaboration, Amy Winehouse is paid $1 million to do a Louis Vuitton gig. In the case of April, we celebrate the 75th anniversary of Lacoste. This trend report is about the stylish ‘Public School’ look that came about as a result of Mr Lacoste’s personal style. Prepare yourself for a whole new type of playground mafia.

Checks are in. (Slightly) Asymetrical
buttoning is in. Navy is always in. So why not mix all three and make an amazing
jacket? Oliver Spencer have done just that with this Navy blue check
belted jacket
that retails at £345. I felt it necessary to state the price
early because, if you’re anything like me, you’ll want this jacket. Right now.

Comme Des Garcons x Chromehearts

cdg_x_chromehearts.jpg

Whilst collaborations are pretty standard,
it’s still interesting to hear of a Comme
Des Garçons and Chromehearts jewellery collection
. Looking at the
collection, it seems the idea of a CDG and Chromehearts collaboration is a lot
more interesting than the actuality of it. The shirts were almost too boring
for words – apart from the words I just typed – and the jewellery is good but dull.

Watches that ask philosophical questions
are the new black/brown/whatever the old thing was. If you’ve ever wanted
a D&G watch but felt they were missing that intangible ‘it’ factor, then
this Dolce
& Gabbana High Security watch
is the timepiece for you. It manages the
amazing feat of asking ‘why not today’ whilst showing the time and the date. All that’s missing is a
free call to a life coach.

From Marc Jacobs to Topman, McQ to Uniqlo, short shorts have undoubtedly secured their place as the menswear item of the season – and possibly the year. If I said they needed an adopter than we at Brandish are basically an orphanage. We have given you examples of short shorts in a spectrum of colours, fabrics and prints and Jason even took it to a political platform!

Cheap Monday look set to keep on branching
out with their KOSTYM
range. Featuring suits, trench coats and the ubiquitous check shirt, the
detailing on the items is what they’re hoping will set them apart. The asymmetrical
buttoning on the trench coats is similar to 70’s leather jackets and the suits
are very slim fit.
