Seeing as Mr. West is an established favourite here at Brandish, we feel it only fair to link to a sneak preview of his Pastelle line. As until now pictures of Pastelle clothing have been a rare joy and although the line is due out in November, this doesn’t look set to change. If Vman went through a load of hassle to get the pictures – the tagline reads ‘if only you knew what we went through to get these pictures’ – what hope is there for the rest of us?
I’m not really a golfer and so I can’t claim any deep knowledge/love/appreciation of golf. I can however show knowledge/love/appreciation of knit V-necks with funky patterns and an equally passionate knowledge/love/appreciation of the new “Tiger Woods/Masters Edition” Nike Blazer Hi Premium.
Pictures of the forthcoming Comme des Garçons collection for H&M have been leaked to Fashionista and my intial verdict is thumbs up for the menswear. The women’s collection might be a little overly quirky (I’m reserving final opinion for when the range hits the shops) but the menswear is spot on, no pun intended. Rei Kawakubo has obviously retained CDG’s spirit in a surprisingly mainstream collection. From what I can see it’s a mix of quality tailoring with some well-placed, original flourishes like bias-cut fabrics and contrasting buttonholes.

David Saunders brings you the AW 08 collection for his label David David. The collection is high end yet accessible with some pieces drawing inspiration from contemporary sportswear while others having a more formal twist. All in all a well rounded collection of both mens and womenswear with a broad range of textiles from wool to satin creating items that would slot into anyone’s wardrobe with ease.
As if being a style icon in the making wasn’t enough, Taz Arnold has decided to launch a clothing line as well. ti$a have announced their arrival onto the scene with a briefcase collaboration with luxury bag brand MCM. They’ve also got some Obama shirts and caps, which isn’t surprising given his ‘Imma vote Obama way’ video.

Generic Man are a brand who believe in the no logo approach to clothing. So much so that they’ve created a whole new term to describe the person who’s interested in clothes without logos. That term is ‘newdult’.
I can’t seem to go a day without mentioning Kanye West lately, but this complex post is an interesting one on his various collaborations and the likeliness of them ever appearing in stores. Let us know which one you think will be out first in the poll after the jump.
Here on Brandish we love a bit of sartorial realism. While Jason deals with cool buys and indie-labels, I tend to veer towards the bright lights of magazines and the high-octane glamour of ridiculously expensive items (WISHLIST anyone?) and the glossy adverts they inhabit.
I do love the high-street and so, with editor’s camera in hand and a trusty phone in the other (who knows what pickle one could get into asking for photos on the streets of Camden?) I set off to find London’s fashionistos.
We’ve made you endure some pretty terrible things on Brandish (see here and here,) and now I present a sneaky snap of New Look’s new adjust-a-length jeans. The trick is you have to button up each different level of the jean depending on what you’re after; shorts, the semi-crop, full jeans or the button-embellished. Is it just me who gasps at this fashion indictment?

Kitsune’s spring/summer ’08 collection was impressive for the range of quality materials the French label sourced, including Scottish sea island cotton, Portuguese leather and premium Japanese denim.
Heard of the saying ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’? Apparently Glue Jeans haven’t as they’ve decided to do away with stitching and make their jeans using glue. Guessing from their name, they decided on the glue before anything else.
We talked briefly about H&M’s fashion forward capsule collection and now that pictures are available, we can all get a good gawk at them. Whilst it ultimately comes down to fit and build quality, on first look I’m slightly disappointed.
Having next to no interest in celebrity clothing lines, I paid no attention to Justin Timberlake’s William Rast line. I’m slightly more interested after finding out that Johan and Marcella Lindeberg were the creative directors of the line. There’s an interesting interview with Johan about the line on Sportswear international.
Lining has been an interesting part of blazers for a while now, with inventive designers using it to showcase a contrasting colour or pattern. Comme Des Garçons have gone one step further with this lining print of an anime-like boxer. It’s the kind of the lining that seriously makes you consider walking around in the same pose the models doing above. You can get this from the usual outlets once they start stocking the A/W collections.
I’m currently down in London, lapping up the (dubious) sunshine and attempting to dress in a way befitting of the cramped, and quite frankly grumpy, tube passengers. Turns out their not too pleased about being next to someone wearing a blazer with Margiela-esque shoulderpads. Basically, the heat is ridiculous and so yesterday I wondered into Convent Garden and bought some vintage sunglasses at Rokit.
As the old saying goes, ‘another day, another Fred Perry collaboration’. This time with Tomoki Sukezane. It does make a mockery of the whole ‘Fred Perry is for fans of style not fashion’ stance though, as the company are clearly using collaborations as a means to follow trends.
With most brands turning into lifestyle brands, you’ll have to provide a little extra to stand out from the crowd. Cold Method are doing just that with their ‘9 aesthetics’ capsule collection. The Dutch label state that you need 9 essentials for every season, starting with a t-shirt, denim, shirt, trousers, knitwear, suit, coat and an accessory. Check out the collection at their website.
VMAN has just released a preview of their next issue (VMAN 11) and by the looks of this preview editorial, ‘Suit Yourself,’ it is going to be incredible. Reflecting V Magazine’s ‘The Women’ editorial, which took rich photography and a classic country manor to project an image of high-society living, this editorial tells a nostalgic story of traditional tailoring with almost grainy photography used to stunning effects.
Perez Hilton has got his hands on the heavily anticipated Jude Law for Dior Homme Sport campaign images. Hilton complains of the blatant photoshop-job surrounding Jude’s sudden wealth of hair, hence the equally blatant ‘FAKE’ scrawled across the image in trademark Perez style!
JustJared reports that Jude was shot by Australian photographer Daniel Askill in May, on location in the Bahamas. “It was hard for me to decide whether to take it on because I had directed an ad for Dior before with Hedi [Slimane], it was one of the last major projects before he left, so it was a very tumultuous time.”
