I know we are all a bit tired of weddings (thanks Will and Kate), but with the summer wedding season just kicking off, it is probably a good time to invest in a new tie to refresh that suit you wore last year. One of my favourite tie makers as of late has to be General Knot & Co.
The New England-based furnishings label has just released their new collection featuring chambray, plaid and floral prints. The vintage ties are handmade and use various fine fabrics and materials that date back as far as World War II. All ties are released as part of a one-time-only run, so you better move fast if you want to get your hands on one. Prices start at $78 USD (£47) and are available from their website General Knot & Co.

Tired of hearing all about Kate & Wills? Well fear not, you’re not alone! Which is why we love this cheeky campaign by the east London Ad agency, Albion. They have designed t-shirts and other memorabilia to support our Other Royal Wedding, the impending marriage of Zara Phillips and Mike Tindall.
Albion London founder and CEO, Jason Goodman, said, ‘We wanted to create a mini-movement to support Zara and Mike on the run up to their wedding. Kate and Wills have all the hype, but we think this wedding is going to be much more fun.’
To get your own ‘I’d rather be at Zara & Mike’s’ shirt check out the shop. All profits go to Sargent Cancer Care for Children

I recently was introduced to this awesome LA based label Symmetry by a friend in California. I immediately fell in love with the way they have put a contemporary spin on the traditional wrap scarf.
The husband-and-wife design duo first launched their accessory brand in 2010, and have made a name for themselves by combining quality and function. After a well-received first run, Symmetry is back and continue to play on the innate versatility of scarves by adding supple leather strips that connect by clasp to leather-backed grommets. One of my favourite pieces has to be the Dixon, which turns from a scarf to a large tote bag.
Check out Symmetry’s online shop here. Prices start at $155.

As we all know on Friday 11th March 2011 a 9.0 magnitude earthquake and destructive tsunami caused extensive and severe damage in Northeastern Japan leaving thousands of people confirmed dead, injured or missing and millions more affected by the lack of water, electricity and transportation.
Over the past few weeks we have seen people all over the world coming together to raise money through the sale of everything from cakes to posters. Hackett London is just one of the many brands who have also stepped up to try and raise money for those who have been affected, by launching a limited edition polo shirt.
All profits from the sale of these shirts is being donated to the Japan Society “Tohoku Earthquake Relief Fund”. The polo shirt has been designed with traditional Japanese embroidery of the cherry blossom which is an emblem of love and affection. The declaration of ‘Hope’ is embroidered on the polo in English and Japanese characters.
The cotton polo shirt is available in navy and white colourways for £49. You can purchase the shirt in Hackett stores worldwide and online from the end of April.

Today on Facebook, the online retailer ASOS posted this picture up to announce their new menswear trend – Beach Hut. The image doesn’t give to much away but it looks as though it will be continuing the khaki trend, that we are already seeing so much of. I also really love the use of colour blocking with more muted tones.
We can’t wait to see the full look when they launch the trend Monday.

It seems like brand collaborations are all the rage at the moment, but I was especially excited when I heard that Supreme and Clarks had teamed up to bring us a new take on the classic desert boot.
Supreme has taken the hugely popular British classic, and redesigned the ankle area slightly, sloping the back and adding an extra lace attachment in the form of a hook eye.
The boots will be available in the standard black, gray and navy blue, but they have also made one the Supreme red that looks amazing. No news on the release date yet but we expect them to retail for about £165.00

Last week Brandish was invited to celebrate 135 years of Jockey Underwear, at an impressive international catwalk show. The show saw the brand go back to its roots, showcasing a number of heritage pieces from its original collection in 1879, before introducing some of Jockey’s more updated collections for A/W 2011.

GQ Editor Dylan Jones, hosted the night and provided the audience with product highlights from Jockey’s 135 history, from its beginnings with predecessor Samuel T Cooper and classic all-in-ones, to the space underwear created for NASA and the 3D Innovations collection of today.
The Models moved through different eras through in a highly choreographed show, that even featured dubstep at one point. The new collections that were revealed within the catwalk, included the latest USA Originals range, meant to encapsulate the ‘American Way of Life’, the Urban Luxury range and Countryside range, representing the North American outdoors.
Overall it was a great night and a really fun way to not only see how Jockey have grown as a brand, but how their product has really developed over the years. Trust me, I am glad no one is rocking the onesy anymore!

Warmer weather is fast approaching and many are getting their bikes out again. One of the most important accessories for any cyclist (other than safety items of course) is a a solid and dependable pack for carting your possessions around.
While there are plenty of options out there, we absolutely love the latest Mystery Ranch messenger bag. The Outsider features a padded computer sleeve, numerous pockets for organization, and a detachable shoulder strap cellphone case among other elements.
Mystery Ranch bags are available on their website here

We recently came across this great new men’s t-shirt label, t-lab. We loved their distinctive style mixing art, design and popular culture.
The shirts overall have a punchy ‘less is more’ graphic style and rely on the use of strong colours and shapes. We loved how the semi-abstract graphics invite the viewer
to ‘de-code’ the shirt’s message, while clearly drawing influence from music, surfing and skiing.
To top it off all t-lab shirts are made from heavyweight 100% cotton, from suppliers committed to sustainable social and environmental policies.
We liked what the guys over at t-lab were doing so much that Brandish has teamed up with them to give you the chance to win some awesome new swag. To win two t-shirts of your choice simply go check out their site here then leave us a comment or tweet to tell us which shirt is your favourite and why.
The winner will be selected at random on March 31st.

The quintessentially British label, Hackett have launched their spring/summer 2011 collection. Comprised of four ranges, Hackett have tried to bring a classy sophisticated look to almost every summer event, whether it be a day in the country, a business engagement or just relaxing by the seaside. Although it is quite a traditional collection, I can’t help but love it. There are just so many timeless pieces worth the investment.

The four ranges include the Correspondent collection, which is inspired by “the globetrotting gentleman”, and incorporates light-weight, warm weather suiting and iconic travel garments, such as safari jackets, chinos and macs, with a contemporary cut and style. The Mayfair collection shows off the classic Hackett tailoring combined with knitwear in summery tones of fresh lilac, warm pink and mint green. The collection is a real blend of sophisticated, casual sportswear. The Caribbean collection continues a travel theme with bold colours and prints on cotton and linen trousers, shorts, polos, casual shirts, and swim wear. Finally the Nautical collection comprises of traditional maritime colours, and key pieces including a double-faced navy jacket with red lining, horizontal striped blazers, lightweight white suiting and nautical striped polo shirts.

For those of you who like the sounds of the collection your in luck because to celebrate the launch of the new season collection, Hackett is giving away an essential Hackett beach kit through their Facebook page. Check out their fan page here for all the details.

On a side note I absolutely love the photography for the collection. You can see more images on their Flickr page here

Usually when you hear the words sustainable shoes, images of hippy burlap sacks for the feet come to mind. However, Oat Shoes, prove that sustainable fashion can actually be fashionable.
Founder Christiaan Maats took on the seemingly-impossible challenge of designing and fabricating decomposable footwear as a continuation of his graduation project in product design. After over two years in development, the Amsterdam-based label finally introduced prototypes of its Virgin Collection, a brilliantly-conceived lineup of kicks constructed from hemp canvas, bio-cotton, cork and certified biodegradable plastic.

When you wear out a pair of Oats you can literally bury them in your backyard or toss them into the compost where they will decompose – not that you will want to do that for a some time. The Virgin Collection comes in four versatile yet laid-back styles. I love the subtly colourful soles and being made from hemp canvas, they are naturally antibacterial and a fantastic moisture-wicker, all which will extend the wearability of your kicks.
The Virgin Collection’s four styles, two high tops and two-low tops, will be available for purchase this spring on the Oat Shoes website for €140-150.

Oliver Peoples consistently impress me with their eyewear collections, and this latest is no different.
The company was founded in 1986 when opticians Larry and Dennis Leight opened an optical boutique on Sunset Boulevard, California. Earlier that year, they purchased an estate collection of vintage American-made eyewear. The assortment included thousands of beautifully filigreed rimless and metal frames, including clip-on metal sunglasses produced by iconic American companies, such as by Bausch & Lomb and American Optical. All the frames were unworn, in mint condition and in their original packaging.

The brothers purchased the entire lot, which included a receipt signed with the name “Oliver Peoples,” who they reasoned was the original owner or distributor. When they decided to sell the estate collection in their retail store, they decided to use this name in his honor.
Now years later, encouraged by loyal friends, family and customers Oliver Peoples founder Larry Leigh, has dug through his personal archive of original Oliver Peoples designs and decided to revive several iconic, brand-defining styles.

He believes, and I’m inclined to agree, that these classic styles is just as strong today as it was twenty years ago. Since very few originals still exist, and because it is essential that the same attention to detail, craftsmanship and the integrity of the original styles be retained, the brand reached out to the same Japanese factory to reproduce these designs in a limited run. The frames will be made available to select customers.

Bespoken’s menswear collection was presented at New York’s Fashion Week and is creating quite the stir. “The pieces in this collection were inspired by the details of these soldiers’ attire, how they carried themselves through hardship and the natural wear of their tailored goods while working at sea,” they explain. The collection includes nautical pieces like a reversible seaman’s jacket, a sailor shirt and fisherman knits.
Headed by the Fayeds and the Goncalves, two sets of brothers, Bespoken draws from rich sartorial tradition. The Fayed family owns the British clothier Turnbull & Asser, and the brothers have clearly taken advantage of the archives available to them by pulling Victorian era patterns.
Bespoken is headquartered in New York, however the label remains absolutely British.

When Acne creative director Jonny Johansson was asked about the Men’s Fall 2011 collection he shrugged and stated “All the tailoring—I thought that was in the moment, something fresh. I’m tired of all this heritage, the older models or whatever. It’s time for something young.” Here at Brandish we completely agree!
The collection includes a series of overcoats paired with suit pants, as well as very sartorial two-piecers. With TV influences like Mad Men the suit is becoming increasingly popular amongst younger generations and it’s labels like Acne that they’ll turn to.
The collection over all is very youthful with slightly cropped pants and low-buttoning jackets in different styles all in Italian bonded wool. The pallet sees accents of raspberry, royal blue, or teal. Johansson stated that the clothing was made for “that moment when you’re not grown up and at the same time, not a kid. The kind of sexual energy that brings.”
