Bespoke Jeans

There was a
recent survey stating that one of the greatest feelings for people was finding
the perfect pair of jeans. The mere fact that finding jeans can be listed
amongst other life-changing events shows how rare a good fit of jeans are
to us. For most people there was two choices; you could either spend a fortune
trying to find the perfect fit or begrudgingly buy a pair of ill fitting jeans. There’s now a third; buy bespoke jeans. You can even skip the whole embarrassing inner
leg measurement thing that tailors do.

Not that bodymetric’s method is any less
awkward, with them requiring you to strip down to your tight-whites before
stepping into a pod and getting a full body scan. Then you can order jeans that
will fit your body perfectly. Just to make things easier on you, they keep your
body scan on record, so you can order from them any time you feel like it.

Dior Homme Jeans

There’s
usually a moment when you know you’ve fallen deep into the world of fashion.
For me, it was looking at a pair of £155 jeans and thinking ‘that’s a pretty
good price for Dior Homme’ rather than thinking ‘I’d never pay more than a £100
for jeans; they’re all the same anyway!’ But the first caption is what came
across my mind when I saw these black

Black jeans
of this style are incredibly versatile, matching with anything and everything. They’re
made of Japanese denim and are baggy enough to allow for some grouping at the
knees and ankles. You could team it with a good leather jacket for an ‘I’m
in the Strokes’ look that seems to be hot right now (Paris Hilton ™).
Whatever you do, don’t wear it with a ‘leather look’ jacket. It doesn’t look
like leather, just overly shiny nylon.

As drainpipes become ubiquitous, T-shirts, jumpers and trainers are being made with slim jeans in mind. Straight cut jeans end up covering too much of the shoe and wearing tight t-shirts with wide jeans leave you with a balloon-like silhouette. There now seems to be a gap in the market for those who don’t (or in my case, can’t) wear super-tight Cheap Monday jeans but don’t want anything approaching a baggy cut.

Jeans companies are taking advantage of this, releasing fits that are in between slim and straight. Canadian brand Iron Army specializes in this fit, with the best of the collection being this Hiro raw pair. It’s baggy enough to allow room to breathe, but fitted enough to match with your new streamlined t-shirt. They’re relatively cheap as well, costing just £80.

Levi’s grey jeans

Whilst drainpipe wearers have always had their
fair share of colours and washes, anyone who doesn’t want to look like Faris
Rotter has been forgotten about.  That trend looked like it was continuing when
raw denim, which usually comes in navy or black, became one of the winter
trends.

Thankfully, one of the other trends for this
winter has been grey jeans. Levi’s have a good pair of straight
grey jeans, costing just £65. They match best with a black t-shirt and help
prevent that ‘going to a funeral/rob a bank’ look that wearing all black
creates.

Trendsetting: J.Lindeberg straight leg jeans

Skinny jeans aren’t in fashion anymore,
apparently. Given that Hedi Slimane, the man who single-handedly made them
popular has left Dior to be replaced by Kris Van Aasche. The fashion gods, who’ve been quite busy this week, have
decided that straight leg jeans are back. But not as you know it. This time
they’re ever so slightly tighter than before and the colours are either dark
blue or black.

the public and they’re charging a premium for it, with the jeans

Trousers aren’t just for city workers anymore

If you’re a
bit bored of wearing jeans, it can seem like there’s no alternative except corduroy.
But for those of us who don’t want to look like a Led Zeppelin tribute band’s
roadie, you could start wearing trousers.

Topman has
a great range of trousers that won’t make you look like you forgot to wear
shoes to the office. The pick of the bunch are these grey trousers,

The chequered style goes well with any sort of plain trainers and can be
completed with a polo shirt or a military style shirt.

Nudie black selvage jeans

Swedish denim brand Nudie aim to be ‘the naked
truth about denim’. I’m not sure what that means, but they make really good
jeans. Specializing in raw denim, you’re advised to wear them every day for six
months before washing them. Unless they became unspeakably
dirty, obviously.

The Average Joes are in the middle of a range
which varies from skin-tight to oversized, meaning they’ll flatter those of us
