By Laura on January 18th, 2011

They just look so modern and boring. Well get ready to rejoice the iSupr8 is about to fix this by applying a Super 8 filter to your iPhone’s video function.

The £1.99 app lets you record in 360p, 480p or 720p, and has shortcuts to export to your camera roll, share on Facebook and send via email. Check out the demo above.

Olympus TOUGH TG-610 and TG-310 Digital Cameras

By Laura on January 17th, 2011

Olympus has launched the new TG-610 and TG-310, the latest cameras to join their TOUGH line.

As with their other TOUGH cameras, both the TG-610 and TG-310 are waterproof, shockproof and freezeproof allowing you to take great photos and shoot HD movies in almost any environment. I have yet to personally test out these latest models, however, I personally owned one of the older versions of this camera, and found it perfect for more sporty or adventurous people, looking for good quality point and shoot camera that can keep up with them. Mine has survived a month long canoe trip to the Canadian Arctic, multiple skiing trips, been dropped off a few cliffs and even into a beer stein at Octoberfest, yet despite all this abuse it still works perfectly. So if these new cameras are anything like the older versions, tough is a bit of an understatement.

The 14 Megapixel cameras are Eye-Fi card compatibility and will automatically upload your pictures and movies wirelessly to your computer or website. They can also be charged through USB which is obviously useful when your traveling. Designed to shoot underwater, the cameras feature a sliding double lock mechanism protects the battery, card slots and ports, while an additional lens barrier (metal on the TG-610 and hard glass on the TG-310) safeguards the optical zoom lens for taking pictures underwater; the TG-310 is waterproof to three meters while the TG-610 can shoot images up to five meters. The Olympus TOUGH TG-610 also has an automatic Underwater Snapshot Mode. In addition both cameras are freezeproof to -10°C and shockproof to a height of 1.5 meters.

Similar to their EPL cameras they both feature what Olympus calls Magic Filters. These allow you to add a number of filters to your photos including Pop Art, Soft Focus, Punk ( which transforms your image into contrasting pink and blacks), Sparkle Magic (which adds twinkling lights to objects) and the Beauty Mode (allowing you to smooth away wrinkles and eliminate imperfections and blemishes). The cameras also has Face and Pet Detection. While a lot of these filters are rather gimmicky, for the casual photographer they can be quite fun to play around with.

Both cameras will be available from February, with the TG-610 available in silver, black, blue and red for £250 and the TG-310 available in silver, blue, red, white and orange for £200.

iPad Release Date Announced.

By ThomasHewetson on May 11th, 2010

Apple have announced that the iPad will become available in Britain on the 28th of May and the 16GB WiFi model shall retail at £429. I was in New York a few weeks ago and played around with one in the Apple shop and it is actually amazing. It fills a space in your tech life which you didn’t know existed. It’s beautiful and the web browsing on it is better than a laptop. Still, it’s far too expensive over here for me to buy. Plus, clothes are a definite priority when it comes to spending money. Anyway, here’s a video which finds another use for an iPad.

Apple iPad: the ultimate gadget?

By shinychris on January 27th, 2010

apple iPad.jpg Is this the most desirable gadget ever? Certainly Apple hopes so. After much speculation and rumour-mongering, Apple has finally unveiled its tablet device, called obviously the iPad.

Much like a giant iPhone, it has a huge touchscreen and a ton of apps running on an updated iPhone operating system. Prices start from a staggeringly affordable $499 (£309) up to $829 (£514) and it will be available to buy in just over 2 months time, with 3G enabled models available within 90 days.

So what do we know about the iPad? Well, quite a lot actually. Apple’s announcement today saw the company’s main-man Steve Jobs talk the world through its device, revealing a host of great features and the gear behind all the magic.

First up, the iPad’s size. It’s difficult to ascertain how comfortable the iPad is without touching it, but we do know it’s only half an inch thick despite the massive touchscreen and that it is also surprisingly light.

There’s 10 hours of battery juice from a single charge even while watching video, as well as a 30-pin dock connector on the side for plugging in add-ons such as a fully mechanical keyboard. The iPad will also sync and back data up with your computer via USB.

Lambretta launches Quadrophenia bike

By shinychris on September 30th, 2009

Lambretta Bike Mens 01 -.jpgMust confess I’m not a big fan of bikes or the goddam ridiculous gear cyclists wear while jumping red lights or ignoring zebra crossings. But this retro-chic Lambretta would be enough to get me back on two wheels cruising the streets of Brighton in my Sta-Press trousers rather than Lycra of course.

Brought to you by Fisher Outdoor Leisure, the world’s first Lambretta Bicicletta (Li126) is modelled on the Lambretta driven by Jimmy in cult film Quadrophenia and will be launched to the public at the London Cycle Show 2009 at Earls Court, 8-11 October.

Every one of the 500 £599 limited edition models is individually numbered and comes with its own certificate of authenticity. Rather fittingly number 1 of this limited edition model is owned by the self-styled ‘modfather’ himself, Mr Paul Weller.

Comments Fisher Outdoor CEO Richard Allmark: “We are very excited to be launching the Li126 Lambretta Bicicletta. We are huge fans of Lambretta, and as such have been faithful in our efforts to create a bicycle with style and class, that is in keeping with the brand heritage.”

Though the brand is vintage, Lambretta claims the Li126 is a thoroughly modern bicycle incorporating the latest developments in bike technology and design to create a beautifully honed and high-performing ‘city cruiser’ bike. Further models in the Lambretta Bicicletta range will be announced in Spring 2010.

More images of this beautiful bicycle over the turn.
