From next week you can get some French Connection Time, as the new watch collection from the retailer debuts on Monday. Prices range from £80 to £160 which is a good price for your first ‘proper’ watch.
My favourite from their selection in the vintage-inspired sunray dial watch which will set you back £100. I like the contrast between the silver bezel and the copper-coloured face markings, it’s distinctive without shouting for attention and will give a quirky retro touch to your outfit.

Franco’s cover (left) bears a striking resemblance to Agy Deyn’s Pop editorial of S/S 2007
Oops- I genuinely only just realised that the title of this post could be interpreted pretty freely. Anyway, let’s all just grow up and listen to the explanation.
Basically, after a sell-out premiere issue featuring Kate Moss in a cat-suit, Interview magazine has decided to use James Franco on the cover of their October issue. Photographed by Mikael Jansson, this is a huge step for Franco and after his role as the latest Gucci-guy, he has cemented himself as a fixture on the high-fashion scene. This cover however, reminds me of Agyness Deyn’s editorial in the Spring/Summer 2007 issue of Pop Magazine.
Read on for more pictures and a full editorial review with highlights including Raf Simons, Karl Templer and Ryan McGinley.

Jordan Askill, a designer whose work for Dior Homme and Ksubi has cemented him as a name to keep an eye on, has launched a jewellery collection at Dover Street Market (DSM.) Dover Street Market is a fashion emporium founded by Rei Kawakubo and her husband and it has become known for its artistic installations, exclusive lines and designer collaborations. In previous years, we’ve seen a hotel room designed by Alber Elbaz of Lanvin and a Tiki-hut check-out.
Akill’s jewellery line is made up of edgy, androgynous pieces that could be worn by either guys or girls and Vogue reports that “the debut jewellery offering features bird, boy and rose motifs as fragile and rare entities – the flora, fauna and humanity of life – set in a claw to denote them as “precious memories to capture“. Lovely.

As if I needed a reminder about missing The Specials secret gig at Bestival by being asleep in a tent, Modculture’s Dave has given me the heads up on a great competition he is running from today.
Terry Hall himself is signing (the tags) of a Fred Perry knit to mark the release of a special 500-limited edition version of their v-neck jumpers. They are being made to the specification of the jumper Terry wore on the first issue of the Face, with a deeper ‘V’, oversized laurel and they will be available in maroon and black.

As we wave goodbye to Jason this week I’ve decided to bring you a compilation of some of his best bits from Brandish.
Jason brought us gems like Generic Man, a mild obsession with Taz of Sa-Ra and original pieces like the post on Bobby Womack‘s glasses. Chuck in a sense of humour that brought us stories like: ‘Ronaldo’s suit: Yay or Nay? I’m just kidding, of course it’s nay‘ and you’ve got a writer who will be sorely missed, goodbye Jason!
Last but definitely not least who can forget the controversial Mustang skinline jeans video? Don’t click the link. Seriously. Don’t.
Jason’s departure means we are looking for writers, if you think you’ve got what it takes email me at isabelle [at] shinymedia.com

Estelle, Ozwald Boateng, Nat Weller, Tolula Adeyemi and snowboarder/model Charlotte Dutton were some of the names who came to Harrods for the launch of a beaming André Benjamin’s Benjamin Bixby menswear line.
André 3000 as he is known to Outkast fans turned up looking suitably retro in turned-up jeans, green polo and a dogstooth jacket.

The On|Off party was a truly special event with massages and mini-spa treatments galore, and limited edition goodie bags created by Natalie Thakur who is known for her leather homage to the plastic bag.
As if that wasn’t enough indie child prodigy Patrick Wolf played a storming set, but what I want to know is where has the red hair gone? Check out gallery to see what Matthew Williamson and Henry Conway were wearing.

Rex Features describes the Creative Arts Primetime Emmys as an event to “recognise technical and other achievements for the 2007-08 TV season…widely considered to be a precursor to the main Emmys ceremony.”
In my world of tired soaps like Eastenders and Coronation St, this translates as an excuse for C-list stars to dress up in posh frocks a la the recent TV Soap Awards (or something along those lines) that occurred in Britain where everyone thought that Ashley Slanina-Davies from Hollyoaks was a style star because she actually had a YSL clutch (and, I admit it, she did look wonderfully 80s.)
Anyway, Alan Cumming decided to bring a different flavour to the LA-based awards and opted for grunge-hair and darker shades instead of the usual skinny-fit suit, Converse trainer and grey/black palette that we see from most of LA’s men.

Giles Deacon has created a number of womenswear collections for New Look, but this November will see the launch of his first ever menswear collection for the high street brand.
Steve Lawton, New Look’s menswear director said: “New Look are delighted to be partners in this venture with Giles, which not only sees the launch of his first menswear collection with us, but also his first menswear collection full stop.”
Exciting news indeed, the collection will include a faded grey hoodie, check shirts and and a classic pair of jeans. See after the jump for images.

Now is a great time for menswear, everyone from designer to high street is paying more attention to men’s clothing and it seems like the bar has been well and truly raised. The Style Salvage duo kicked off their Men Represent scheme a while back, and now they’re dusting it off and want you involved. They want stylish men to email in their five essential wardrobe items, show off their outfits or just have a chat.
It’s an admirable idea, and I love anything which increases the profile of stylish men around the world. So if you want to become part of an international community of fashionistos get thee to Style Salvage!

My bad! I may have the wrong film but I doubt such a slip-up would result in a look that miserable from Robert DeNiro? Might it be that he’s fed up with films? Maybe he (okay, clearly he) couldn’t be bothered to make the effort to dress up but my bet is that it’s standing next to Al Pacino who, as well as being an arguably equal competitor on the greatest actor front, actually looks pretty good!
Read on for pictures including 50 Cent as well as info about this cult-to-be film.

Marc Jacobs‘ shows are always a star-studded affair and this latest one was no exception. Marvel at Kanye West‘s grey suit and camel deck shoes, (why didn’t Jay-Z make a similar effort?!), wonder at Jefferson Hack’s eternal youth, coo over Luke Worrall who looks the epitome of a little boy lost and most importantly, click image to enlarge.
Visit Catwalk Queen to see the Marc Jacobs women’s show.
