One for the bloggers… Scott Schuman, better known as The Sartorialist, has hit the big time by starring in Gap’s autumn 2008 line-up. The street snapper chronicled his stint in front of the camera, as opposed to behind it, on his own blog.

Justin Timberlake is abandoning his decade-old au naturel smell to become the face of new Givenchy scent ‘Play’. The singer was reluctant to smell of anything other than eau de Justin until Givenchy persuaded him that he would enjoy wearing the fragrance.
Timberlake told GQ: “First of all, I haven’t worn cologne in 10 years, since the days when I’d drench myself, until I realised I didn’t want to smell like something else, I wanted to smell like myself.
So when Givenchy approached me, I said, ‘I gotta be honest, I don’t wear a fragrance. If you can get me to wear it, it’s gonna have to be good. If you can win over a guy who doesn’t wear fragrances, it’ll be something fresh.”

PPQ hosted a moving out party last night at their Conduit Street headquarters which was attended by Jaime Winstone, Ben Grimes and Peaches Geldof. Designers Amy Molyneaux and Percy Parker themed the event as a “trash the carpet” party which was bound to encourage some rambunctiousness. Henry Holland turned up with a new darker hairdo and sporting a pair of lowkey denim cutoffs. He livened the outfit up with a jacket in what’s become his trademark vivid purple. Across town Jefferson Hack was djing at the Dazed and Confused with a summery looking Alice Dellal.

If you still can’t get enough of Marty McFly, you can own the genuine hoverboard that was used in the film. Owning a piece of Hollywood memorabilia is always a pricy affair and this is no different, with the ebay auction currently at $30,000.
There’s also the question of what to do with it if you did win it. Do you frame it? Try to use it? Or just hold it close to your chest whilst watching the film on repeat? Choose what you’d do with it in the poll after the jump.

Popsugar reports that GQ writer Glenn O’Brien is not down with flip flops and I’m inclined to agree. They’re great for the beach but for work or social occasions flip flops are just a little too studenty. Unless you’re applying to appear on CH4′s Shipwrecked they shouldn’t really be part of your day-to-day wardrobe.
O’Brien says: “Flip-flops are for the beach or maybe for washing the car or spaniel. They are not the next big thing. They are the last sad thing on the road to stylistic surrender.” Worst of all are the ‘sporty’ or dress flip flop with rugged all-terrain stylings (left), they should never be worn. See after the jump for my pick of the best sandals so you’ll never have to resort to flip flops again.

We talked briefly about H&M’s fashion forward capsule collection and now that pictures are available, we can all get a good gawk at them. Whilst it ultimately comes down to fit and build quality, on first look I’m slightly disappointed.
There’s a reliance on the colour grey, presumably to tone down the edginess of the looks and some of the pieces have already been done on the high street. On the bright side, I do like the look of the blazer on the far right and Rick Owens-esque long sleeved shirt (far left) looks like it could be an interesting piece. You’ll be able to judge for yourself come mid September, when the collection is released.

I’m not sure which came first, the XKCD cartoon or the t-shirt but either way I love it. You can buy the t-shirt for the bargain price of $25 in the US, but UK shipping might make it a little more. Nevertheless it’s a cheap way of declaring Obama-love, especially if you haven’t got US voting rights.
Barack Obama is one of the most stylish presidential candidates we’ve seen but his powdered wig and frock coat is an entirely new look. Should he make it to the Oval Office the wig would make a great addition to the presidential wardrobe dontcha think?

From our beauty site Kiss & Make Up:

Male make-up is taking the entertainment industries (that’s cosmetics/ fashion/ music and film) by storm. No longer is a touch of bronzer and a dab of lipstick meant only for dressing-room gents; ‘guyliner,’ ‘mancake’ and ‘mank-up’ are all terms being more frequently used amongst the youth of today.
Everyone is searching for an adopter of this trend (because, let’s face it- after Beck’s ‘sarong’ drama no-one wants to be the first man standing.) Zac Efron seems to have been hoisted up as the sail of this cosmetics boat but I, as an image-conscious male, don’t exactly see Efron as one to mimic.

Having next to no interest in celebrity clothing lines, I paid no attention to Justin Timberlake’s William Rast line. I’m slightly more interested after finding out that Johan and Marcella Lindeberg were the creative directors of the line. There’s an interesting interview with Johan about the line on Sportswear international.
In the interview he states that “William Rast has a strong language and a special touch. It shows an urban look with a very body-conscious and tough attitude, but with a tailored twist”.

Ewan McGregor, Brandish fave and actor extraordinaire, has made it as this week’s ‘Love The Look’ style icon. While not actually a look he created himself, McGregor’s get-ups in the film ‘Down With Love’ were unbelievable. Mod suits, a Rat Pack-slick haircut, patent shoes and exotic skins; the look was one of excitement and interesting times. As the love story blossomed, each event was painted with the brilliant sartorial brush of McGregor’s dapper-dandy. Who cares if the actual film was rubbish?

Alex James looked great pictured at Ascot recently with his wife Claire. Sporting a white suit with an off-white shirt the former Blur bassist kept things interesting with a pale mustard retro tie. I wouldn’t have thought textured ties were a very good look in summer but it’s quite an effective look. See after the jump for a selection of the best summer textured ties.

Five O’Clock Heroes – who, it should be noted no one gave a toss about before making that awful song with Agyness Deyn – seem to be of the misguided notion that anyone actually cares about their music. Frontman Anthony Ellis stated:
“Whenever we have an interview now, all anyone ever asks us about is Agy. It can be really frustrating when the questions should be about music, not about who Agy’s dating and stuff like that.”
As this is Brandish, I feel it only fair to blame this all on their attire choices. If they didn’t dress like they’re popping down to their local Lidl, people might dream up a few more questions to ask them. I’m 110% sure that their lacklustre attire is the only reason the press isn’t asking them questions about their music.

Knife crime has reached an unbelievable height in Britain and with the murder of Ben Kinsella, the seventeenth teenager to die as a result of knife crime in London this year, Grazia has launched their ‘Lives for Knives’ campaign. As part of the campaign, the magazine has got Henry Holland, Katharine Hamnett and Sophia Kokosalaki on board to design t-shirts as well as laying a set of Five Government Demands.
On my WISHLIST is Henry Holland’s design, an electric-blue t-shirt with striking design and bold lettering. One size fits all and all proceeds go to the Ben Kinsella Foundation, a charity set up for the prevention of future knife-crime. I couldn’t think of a more worthy summer buy.
T-shirt, Exclusively at Matches, £36

Fatlace isn’t particularly known for it’s politically correct stance, but nontheless when they asked whether Kanye West was homosexual or not t’other day I was still a little surprised. Surely the question should be ‘Does it matter whether Kanye West is homosexual?’ (and the answer should be no).
The poll in question came about after Kanye posted some images of his latest Louis Vuitton stash on his blog. Being a heterosexual female I know I can’t have the final word on homosexuality but I am convinced it doesn’t involve handbags! The man loves fashion, and we love him for it so do we really have to question someone’s sexuality just because they’re interested in clothes?

VMAN has just released a preview of their next issue (VMAN 11) and by the looks of this preview editorial, ‘Suit Yourself,’ it is going to be incredible. Reflecting V Magazine’s ‘The Women’ editorial, which took rich photography and a classic country manor to project an image of high-society living, this editorial tells a nostalgic story of traditional tailoring with almost grainy photography used to stunning effects.
The photographic wizard at hand is none other than David Sherry and the story is styled by Jay Massacret. VMAN introduces the editorial with “this year’s fall suits combine elegant fine tailoring, clean lines, and a whiff of smoky nostalgia.” A perfect introduction to a perfect editorial.
See after the jump for the entire editorial with product listings.
