Fans of Sonia Rykiel Homme will be sad to hear that after it’s SS 09 collection, it will be no more. The reason for this is, despite running for two decades, they’ve never actually made money on their collection.
Nathalie Rykiel, daughter of Sonia Rykiel and President of the Rykiel fashion house stated that “We are a family run business and we wish to remain so…thus the decision to focus on our core business which is women”.
In tribute, I leave you with this catwalk report and a picture of the most wearable men’s leopard print jacket ever.

Esquire magazine’s best dressed list has been gathering attention lately – mostly for not featuring David Beckham. Hopefully, other magazines will follow suit and realise that they’re not contractually obliged to include Mr Beckham on the list. People who did make the list include Jeremy Paxman, Barack Obama, Lapo Elkann, Fabio Capello, Christian Bale and Lupe Fiasco.
Kanye West is notably absent from the list and adding insult to omission, someone even manages to spell his name wrong. I wouldn’t describe Fiasco’s style as ‘outlandish hoodies and oversized trainers’ (how do they know his trainers are too big for him?) but West’s style is certainly more refined than Lupe’s.

Non followers of Hip-Hop may be surprised to know Erykah Badu is widely credited with transforming Andre 3000′s – and to a lesser extent, Common’s – style. On the basis of this Complex cover shoot, you could say that Kelis is doing the same for Nas.
In the cover shoot – which was reminiscent of Lupe Fiasco’s first album – Nas dons Bottega Veneta, Prada and Marc Jacobs for a sportswear inspired shoot. The only top grade rapper left to jump upon the fashion bandwagon now is Jay-Z, who wears stylish clothes but refuses to slim down in any of his clothing – giving him the look of Tony Soprano rather than a fashion forward gentleman. I suspect that’s what he was going for.

We rarely feature Converse because they’re so popular there’s next to no point in doing so. Even the special editions are worn by every Tarquin, Richard and Harold. With all that said, I am particularly looking forward to these leather jacket trainers.
The zips are useless, but they’re also the detail that sets these apart from standard Converse’s. Most special edition All Stars just have a snazzy pattern or colourway, so it’s nice to see a pair actually deviate from the blueprint for once. These will be available in specialised stores from July.

The Incredible Hulk film is out on Friday and features Liv Tyler and Ed Norton as the Hulk. While I can’t promise it will be better than the TV series you can at least pledge your allegiance to old-school Hulk with this ‘Comic Boom’ tee.
It’s from French Connection and features the green grumpy one flying across the word ‘Boom’ in retro comic book style font. Snap it up for a temper-calming £25 and wear it with dark denim and canvas pumps for a simple summer outfit.

It’s only been a few weeks since their heavily discounted ‘Market’ event, but Dover Street Market are once again giving you even more reason to put them at the top of your ‘favourite shops’ list. Chanel is currently making its debut at DSM, pitching up until the 25th June with a collection covering five floors.
Amongst iconic and limited edition pieces you’ll find a specially chosen selection of ready-to-wear, accessories and shoes from the Metiers d’Arts Paris-Londres Collection.

The Westminster show is always a treat and with people like GQ ed Dylan Jones in the audience you know the calibre is going to be high.
Sarah Senouci’s collection consisted of impeccably-finished English summer attire gently infused with retro Americana. Stand By Me met Brideshead Revisited as romantic foppishness combined with dusty farmboy.
Check and and madras shirts were accessorised with bandanas and a windcheater gave a modern touch. Trousers were either of the slouchy Oxford Bags variety or aristocratic britches.

We’re liveblogging from the tents at this year’s Graduate Fashion Week, apologies for the image quality here is the verdict from the catwalks. The Rochester students presented a very strong menswear collection this year, (from left to right)Minne Muztuccari kicked things off with a range of deconstructed jodphurs with sliky jersey panels and built-up ruffled jackets.
Elinor Seager used sportswear and sleepwear influences teaming tracksuit-inspired cropped trousers with coral windcheaters. Suits were given a youthful twist with piping along the pockets and seams.
Pastel colours and candy stripes continued the carefree sporty theme as Elizabeth Render sent models down the catwalks in oversized voluminous shirts and dropped crotch trousers.

With an admirable eye for detail the Guardian’s Jess Cartner-Morley has being giving the US presidential candidate’s dress sense the once over:
Barack Obama‘s own wardrobe has been striking in its simplicity. His trademark is a slim-fitting black suit, and a sense of spit and polish; a very starched white shirt, a very shiny dark shoe. The dark tailoring gives him gravitas, and – in photos at least – adds presence to his slim figure.
I must admit Barack Obama does cut quite a dash in the sartorial wasteland of US politics, his dark, slim-fitting suit has become his trademark and defines him as someone modern and efficient.

I got really excited when I saw this press release as I thought it was about David Jason stripping off for charity. Veering between excited and repulsed I was mostly relieved when I saw it was actually England goalie David James.
James is promoting a campaign in conjunction with Debenhams who are donating money to the Everyman Male Campaign for every item of menswear purchased in the run-up to Father’s Day.
They are hoping raise at least £100,000 for research into prostate and testicular cancer. Portsmouth star James said: “Around 37,000 men are diagnosed with male cancer every year – almost twice the amount of men that fill our great football stadium.” If you haven’t bought socks or ties for your dad yet (seriously, what else is there?!) then head to Debenhams and make your purchase count.

At this year’s CFDA awards, Thom Browne, Michael Bastian and Tom Ford all starred in a spoof of HBO series In Treatment. As someone who’d never heard of that show until I just googled it, the spoof kind of went over my head. Ford’s a believable actor in this though, if the whole fashion thing wasn’t going so well, he probably could consider acting as a career. See for yourself after the jump.

I bring this up because the Guardian has an article about American Apparel’s founder Dov Charney, focusing on a recent sexual harassment case of his and talking about his previous sexual harassment cases. Just how much does the owner of a company affect whether you buy their product?
On one hand American Apparel don’t use sweatshops and make affordable ethical clothing, although the quality on some of the pieces could be improved. But on the other hand, you have an owner who has had multiple sexual harassment charges brought against him, a marketing campaign that is offensive to some and – despite what some might say – devoid of irony. It becomes a question of which is the lesser evil and the answer isn’t a simple one.

As of this autumn, Austin Reed will welcome a new face to its ranks in the form of Spooks star Rupert Penry-Jones.
The actor has signed on to star in the brand’s forthcoming ad campaign, and was chosen for his ‘sophisticated model looks; natural charm and innate sense of style.’
“Rupert is an extremely talented and accomplished actor, his natural style and ability to relate to our core customer makes him the perfect ambassador for the Austin Reed brand,” said Nick Hollingworth, chief executive of Austin Reed.
He certainly has the ‘model looks’ to carry it off, it is any wonder why he wasn’t nabbed earlier.
