Flicking over my most frequented pages recently, I came across Jason Dike’s column at Selectism. Jason was on the Brandish team when I first started out over a year ago but sadly he left last September, leaving us all awfully down-in-the-dumps.
However, Jason is now writing a brilliant column for the equally brilliant Selectism and we can’t wait to see more of his stuff!
The Fashionisto has reported that Oki-ni is redesigning their website today and he has a quote from Pete Hellyer, Oki-ni Design Manager.
“While the products and mix has been constantly evolving the site has remained pretty much the same. 18 months on from the re-launch, what worked then…now doesn’t. We felt that it was time for a change, an evolution that puts the site on par with the products. And we hope that you agree.”
Prepare yourself for brilliant new labels, a blog, fashion archives and designer profiles. All exciting stuff, for sure!
Chloe Sevigny‘s unisex collection for Opening Ceremony debuted this Sunday, to coincide with London Fashion Week.
“There’s much less pressure doing men’s, and because this collection is unisex and oversized, I felt like I could have more fun,” Sevigny said. “Except for the trousers — getting the fit right was really difficult.”
The actress named fashion designer Miguel Adrover as one of her influences, along with gay lumberjacks, preppy New England and English punk. Sevigny is known for her offbeat fashion sense, adding: “I love pouring my creative energy into fashion during my downtime.”
She obviously plans on keeping her fingers in fashion pies as she seems to have her sights set on bigger things: “Maybe I’d do a very small collection for one of the big luxury brands,” she said. “But right now, Opening Ceremony is right — we have a shared aesthetic.”
Even though he hasn’t had a hit album or ever appeared on Top of the Pops, Noel Fielding seems to be as much a part of the NME awards as booze and backstage brawls. He showed up to last ngiht’s event in a fetching pair of silver boots, but never fear some of the other stars made a pretty good effort too. Check out our gallery to see what Patrick Wolf, Friendly Fires and the rest of the guests wore.
Who’d a thunk ol’ Petri Dish was on You Tube?! Well here is showing us how to dress like Mark Ronson.
This seems to consist of a Specials-lite look of Ray Bans, retro jacket and pork pie hat. The respected music journalist doesn’t always hit the menswear mark, but to his credit he is self-depreciating enough to be loveable… Give it a watch!
The latest issue of VMAN was released a few days ago and it has two, bright covers. Models Jake Madden and CJ Hancock pose in fab suits from designers Calvin Klein and Givenchy and the covers are brilliantly fresh- perfect for the economic moan-athon we are currently suffering!
CJ and Jake are the joint winners of the VMAN and Ford Model Search and from these debut covers it looks like they will go far.
See after the jump for a full review of this issue with pics included!
Sean Penn and Kate Winslet both took home statuettes at last night’s Academy Awards but it seems that Burberry was the real winner. They dressed a number of celebs including Slumdog Millionaire star Dev Patel (pictured above with Freida Pinto) and ceremony host Ryan Seacrest. Jump through to see Hugh Jackman and Dominic Cooper doing Burberry, Oscars-style.
Asos have gone live with their new website and judging by all the action on Twitter they’ve been a busy bunch (seriously, there’s about 20 Asos people on there, it’s amazing!) getting up and working.
Hoody £18, Striped Tshirt £10, Belt £10, Chinos £25
Jump through to see more from their spring range, looking forward to the summer stock even more!
We’re gearing up for an exciting day of menswear shows next Wednesday as part of London Fashion Week but in the meantime here’s our compilation of the best of the rest from New York.

More ankle boots from Unconditional, can we make them a menswear staple for autumn?
Sportswear influences made bondage trousers and knitwear look current while neatly avoiding cliché. Tailoring and asymmetric coats added to the simple, classy, look while laidback jersey pieces perfectly capture a youthful stylishness.

Cute little 13-year old father Alfie Patten showed off what is perhaps the best hoodie, ever. The grey marl sweatshirt has a fetching neon print on the back telling the world: ‘”I’m the daddy” If I’m not “Fuck you all I’ll still be there”‘. Wonderful.
Please, please, please let this be available online soon!
Effortlessly cool is not really a phrase you want to bandy about recklessly but Tim Hamilton’s show had cool in spades.
Featuring everything a man could want from a wardrobe, neat tailoring teamed up with quirks like harem jogging bottoms (better than they sound!), jackets with layered panels and zip up ankle boots resulting in a collection that was by no means unadventurous but eminently wearable.

News just in that the Kings of Leon are going to be dressed by Burberry this evening at the Brits.
The ‘are they aren’t they’ band of brothers have been nominated for Best International Act alongside Fleet Foxes and MGMT. They’re also up for and Best International Album this evening so hopefully Burberry will have them looking their best should Matthew Horne, Kylie or James Corden (all presenting tonight) summon them onstage.
Wonder if Christopher Bailey himself will be there primping the trio before the evening kicks off?
Piece by piece Marc by Marc Jacobs‘ menswear was nothing spectacularly new but the way he put it together gave it a fresh feel.
The cobbled together chic was reminiscent of his standout womenswear show last season, proving Will’s point that women’s trends often trickle down into menswear a season or two later. Offering up a vision of the male as strong, wholesome with a slight geeky side is always going to go down a treat, and his mastery with fabrics and colours stops this medley from becoming a jumble sale.
