This outfit is based around an Argyle jumper from Gap and with argyle being one of the key trends of this season (it was featured on the catwalks of Dolce & Gabbana as well as Thom Browne,) the jumper is a perfect foundation for a great Christmas look. Take Levis Skinny 511™ jeans and add in a pair of gold shoes by Common Projects for some Christmas cheer!

Note to Editor: Can we feature pieces we bought just yesterday?
Now that I’ve cleared that up, I can proceed with this Christmas Outfit Pick. This polo is a great find and the loud print is definitely eye-catching. I found it in Topman yesterday afternoon and it was reduced to £10 from £16. In the image, the polo looks black but it is actually blue and the print looks slightly bigger (as opposed to the foot-print looking print pictured!)
I styled it with blue skinny jeans from Topman, two-tone trainers from Gargyle.com and a cable-knit beanie from Old Navy. If you want us to feature an outfit you have designed around a high-street item (from any country,) send it to isabelle@shinymedia.com.

Otto may only be 15 but already this young Finn is mixing up eras and cultural references with dazzling verve.
The punk look would have been fairly run of the mill, were it not for the slicked back quiff and staid retro glasses which bring a bit of life to the look. Attempt a similar look by mixing styles from two different eras and finding a common cultural thread that unites them, like for instance mixng ’80s ska looks with ’50s teddy boy styles.

Every once in a while you stumble upon a trusty outfit formula which you can use and reuse to your heart’s content. For me it’s bright tights, vintage skirts, lace ups and a men’s cardie, when I’m stuck for inspiration I can wear umpteen variations of this outfit before I run out of looks.
Back to menswear, it seems that CA has stumbled upon a failsafe outfit formula, his combination of vintage tee, chinos, quirky belt and cardigan can have a dozen different permutations but still look fresh.

I bring you this fine picture of a young man in shorts and t-shirt not to taunt you but to remind you of warmer times.
His madras check shorts and paisley scarf is a clever match, perhaps a subtle reference to Indian origins of the two prints? The rolled sleeves on the white t-shirt add a bit of texture and provide a simple counterpoint to the busyness of the prints. Update a plaid shirt with a paisley scarf for winter take on the look. If you crave the original look then in the meantime keep marvelling at just how short the shorts are and remember, it’s only 8 months till June.

Twenty-two year old Josh Hartnett lookalike Tommi has put together a cracking outfit using some quite simple pieces. I like the tie tucked into the shirt to show off the new buttons he added.
The colour of the khakis is quite crucial to the look, in a more beige tone the outfit wouldn’t be as effective but the greenish hue of the trousers add interest. Note the rolled-up trouser legs, a quick and easy way to update your look. A word of warning though, don’t go too high or you’ll resemble London gig promoter Josh Weller (nice hair, shame about the trews).

This gallery showcases some of the hottest street style looks I’ve seen in quite a while. Granted, some of the photography is a bit shifty (and the background of sun-washed Camden during the summer is enough to provoke resentment from most Brits,) but these looks are on-trend and rival a lot of professionally styled magazine editorials.
Brandish loves street style and there will definitely be more to come in the next few months. Just prepare for rain drops on the camera lens.

This man’s outfit is an exercise in faux simplicity: the slouchy cardigan, loose fit jeans and slipperesque moccasins all lull you into a false feeling of insouciance.
Take another look and you notice how the belt and gold buttons pick up the colour of the shoes. This adds richness and warmth to the outfit and contrasts with the flat grey blouson. The white t-shirt peeking through gives a jolt of freshness and the neatly tied neckerchief adds another layer of interest.

I’m currently sitting in a small room in India with a fan spinning in an attempt to cool me down and a mosquito net blanketing the balcony door. I have to admit it’s pretty hard to imagine wearing trench coats right now. But, I’m a proud Brit and nothing is going to get in the way of my winter-wardrobe appreciation.
This Outfit Pick shows you how to rock a modern, edgy winter look that will have you feeling protected and warm but not boring and hoping no-one spots you in your M&S beanie.
The trench adds a sharp shot of buzzing colour and the t-shirt and boots add an urban gypsy vibe that’s very on-trend. The umbrella…well, that’s just for fun.

I have to admit that despite being a lover of high-fashion millinery from the likes of Stephen Jones and Philip Treacy, I just can’t wear hats. They look truly horrific on me.
But the whole Brandish team is currently infatuated with an item that looks set to take off in the coming months (of snow and cold.) That item is the Trapper Hat.
In this week’s Outfit Pick, I’ve added a few eccentric pieces to a Topman Trapper hat and created a look that anyone could pull of by balancing the quirky tweed bag and dancing brogues with a classic beige trench also from Topman.

Clothing, Designer Spotlight, Outfit picks
By Will Reid on September 26th, 2008

This outfit is based around my fashion task de jour (as if I could make that sound any more pretentious!) That task would be to make tasselled loafers wearable while avoiding the Ralph Lauren, polo-player trap so closely associated with this (in)famous yet iconic shoe.
I added items that were almost too pop-y for their own good; a binary watch, a Cassette-belt, a Madonna/80s idol tee from and a pair of Alexander McQueen cropped trousers from Oki-Ni.
This is a blend of vintage and modern that I would be more than willing to wear!

With a new of series of Heroes about to begin, the unfortunate death of Yves Saint Laurent and the number of Clark Kent-y characters about in the most recent blockbusters, my style radar is tuned to the male who’s gauche, awkward and geeky in the best way possible. Think of 1970s art students carrying open sketchbooks around Paris, Isaac Mendez of Heroes lounging around his studio in over-sized chinos and Marc Jacobs around his grunge era (which means big glasses, baggy jumpers and lots of corduroy.) I took a risk with mixing the denim shirt with dark jeans but the two items together are a wearable look that anyone can pull off.
Check out the product details after the jump and see how geeky you can get this winter- Argyle jumper anyone?
