Only a few months ago, we told you of how Mario Testino had let it slip that Chace Crawford was to get the cover of VMAN. Since then, Chace has got his cover (although the Brandish team weren’t overly enthusiastic) and a whole new series of Gossip Girl has begun.
In this video, the Grazia Team give Chace their ‘Grazia Guy Fashion Quiz’ and the results are disastrous! I might work in fashion but I’m sure most Brandish readers could score better. What do you think?
Watch the video and then e-mail us to tell us how you do!
Check out the new Marks and Spencer Christmas advert which stars Take That in festive mode joking around with Twiggy, Lily Cole and the rest of the M&S crew.
My favourite part is Gary’s hilariously uneasy face ten seconds in, and there are pure LOLZ to be had when Ikkle Mark™ swaps present tags around; what a joker!
Resident make up expert Zara put male cosmetics to the test recently thanks to our two willing guinea pigs, Sean Hannam and Stuart Waterman. The guys bravely applied bronzer, eyeliner and even fake eyelashes for the test with varying results. All I’m going to say is that from Stuart’s expertly made-up eyes the My Chemical Toilet editor’s either been been in too many male grooming vids or he has a weekend job none of us know about…
Where he’s a woman. What I’m trying to get across here is that Stuart Waterman is a woman in his spare time.
The first installment of the Nike 3×3 project has dropped over at Nike Sportswear. The 3×3 project is a series of 9 short films by 3 talented young peeps the first of which by Adam Jay Weissman features the legendary Nike Windrunner, other shorts by Todd James and Chris Robinson will be dropping over the course of the next 8 weeks at the rate of one a week.
The opening scene’s of Lakai’s “Fully Flared” skate video are about the best 5 minutes of skate video in existence and arguably one of the best intros of all time. The slow motion operatic explosion-o-thon has now been put to print in the form of a series of t-shirts from Lakai, if you like cool shit on your t-shirts then look no further. No release details as of yet but check out your local skate emporium.
More pics and the video of the first 5 minutes of “Fully Flared” after the jump- check it out because seriously it’s the best 5 minutes you’ll spend today.
Another animated music video from another hip-hop fashionisto. This time it’s Common featuring Pharrell with a minimal video for “Announcement”. The animation comes with many an outfit change for the two rappers and many a b-girl for them to rap around, plus check out Common’s beard, it’s the business.
Love him or hate him (I hate him if you wanted to know, have I not mentioned before?) but Kanye West is back here on Brandish with a new music video and once again proving that he is a modern Renaissance Man he has directed this latest effort. The video for the song “Good Morning” is animated by influential Japanese artist and animator (obviously) Takashi Murakami and depicts Kanye as the famous bear late for his graduation.
What’s wrong with musicians these days? They seem to spend all time trying to look as normal as possible. I thought wearing outlandish outfits were a perk of the job, not something you shied away from in case you look like you think about what you wear.
I bring this up because Chromeo, those purveyors of electro funk, constantly state that they don’t want to look like ‘they’re trying too hard’ in their myspace ‘the fit’ feature. They also state that ‘every man should have at least two pairs of Jordans’. I’m sure I’ve said this before but I’ll say it again: All Jordans are hideous. Bar none.
Is it just me or has Style.com been handed over to the likes of M. Night Shyamalan and Wes Craven? Yes, it has previously been the site of some mad fashion experiments but after the ghost model (I know, I can’t stop mentioning it!) and now this video on the home of Liberace, one can only look for popcorn and blankets and hope for the worst.
The video, ‘Viva Liberace!’ involves a tour of Liberace’s Las Vegas home and whilst undeniably vulgar, I have to admit that the (in)famous pianist sure had a taste for the finer things. Howevr, in case you don’t believe my theory that this is a horror film in the making, read this quote from the tour guide; “as we’ve been walking around he’s been listening to us, he’s been watching us.”
See below for stills from the video including ceilings painted by Michelangelo’s relatives, stairs swathed in roses and much more…Beware!
You might be forgiven for thinking that my reasons for putting this video up are slightly self-indulgent, but you’d be wrong. Of course it’s an amazing video -featuring Prabhudeva who is apparently one of the best dancers, but if you pay attention to the main male characters’ lower half you’ll notice they are wearing some rather fetching double pleat trousers.
I’ve seen quite a few people carry off voluminous pleated trousers, but honestly, if you want a guide on how to look good in your neo-baggies then take a tip from these guys.
Louis Vuitton have made a nice little video with Keith Richards, who describes his favourite bits of London in his trademark 60-a-day voice. I like the way it’s quite loosely structured and informal, but I do think that when he says at the end “London…Yeah…Travelling.” he sounds like he’s lost the plot. That’s what a lifetime of hedonism’ll do to you…Don’t do it kids, just say no!
John Travolta’s new look might raise some eyebrows but at least its better than his dubious hairpiece concoctions we’ve seen in the past.
Not content with starring in the remake of the classic film ‘Hairspray’ (and then refuting that there was anything gay about it…) John Travolta is donning the handlebar moustache for the remake of the Taking of the Pelham One Two Three which will also star Denzel Washington.
The original Taking of the Pelham One Two Three was adapted from a book of the same name and was a thriller about a subway train hijacking. I’m not convinced that this remake (there was another remake in 1998) will be any good, to judge for yourself I’ve put a clip of the original after the jump, surely they can’t do better?
The Mystery Jets’ latest video is unbelievably ’80s, I feel like I’m watching the Boomtown Rats except the music is better. Because I’m old enough to remember a lot of the ’80s the video feels rather odd, kind of like the way my mum probably felt when I used to rock up in the local charity shop’s finest ’70s togs.
Part two of the Stuart Waterman makeover, and I have to confess that after applying the eyeliner I laughed like I have never laughed before in my life, emitting some sort of inhuman cackle!
Anyway, the verdict? The eyeliner may have been a step too far for Stuart but he did take away the sheer gel bronzer so I declare a victory for male make up. The Jean Paul Gaultier range is priced between £29 and £9 and is available nationwide.
Mad props goes to My Chemical Toilet’s Stuart Waterman for letting use him as our private Girl’s World doll in our latest video. We tried out a gel tan base, concealer and brow gel for a natural look and you can’t really tell he’s wearing anything. Stay tuned when we add eyeliner and bronzing powder into the mix tomorrow!
