Vid of the day: How women treat men

By mofgimmers on December 22nd, 2006

OK, this may not strictly be true or very accurate, but it’s funny all the same. A great little animation about the way women treat us poor blokes. Be careful if you’re on the pull this Christmas.

Whoever does the ads for Honda, give yourselves a pat on the back…

Vid of the day: Golden Axe

By mofgimmers on December 21st, 2006

As you get older, you don’t actually stop wanting toys and computer games. To remind you of a time when games didn’t feature actual footage of people talking and, well, shoddy graphics, here’s someone getting whupped on Golden Axe. Still ace though aint it?

Vid of the day: Apple’s Xmas Mac ad

By ShinyMedia on December 20th, 2006

Apple and PC make peace and enjoy a festive hug (although the thinly veiled subtext is still Apple = way cooler than speccy PC geek). Aww…

Japan’s extreme alarm service

By ShinyMedia on December 15th, 2006

Heavy sleepers in Japan can pay good money (around £5) to be woken up by an attendant with a vacuum cleaner. Other methods include wasabi up the nose, cake in the face and wax on the nipples.

Vid of the day: USB humping dog

By ShinyMedia on December 13th, 2006

Not sure whether this gizmo is brilliant or just another Bigmouth Billy Bass (ie. funny once or twice and then very, very, very annoying). For now, we like…

Honda Asimo vs stairs. Stairs win

By admin on December 12th, 2006

Brandish thought the whole stair/robots debate had been settled when the Daleks learned to fly in the recent Doctor Who remake. But no. It seems cutting-edge robotics still can’t quite cope with an average flight of stairs.

Check the video at this link for an example of Honda’s Asimo robot trying (and failing) to reach the first floor without falling on its arse. Come the robo-revolution, humanity will be safe as long as we lurk upstairs…

Check out our Japan category for more robo-fun.

Who Ate All The Pies?

By mofgimmers on December 11th, 2006

Us gentlemen are known for enjoying a bit of football aren’t we? From reading Roy of the Rovers, to still hanging onto a dream that you could offer your club of choice something even though you’re a bit overweight and cough up terrible things after running for longer than a minute. Well, you’ll be glad to know that there is a home for you at the marvellous WhoAteAllThePies? where you can laugh about football funnies (or Alan Pardew’s sacking) or watch endless videos of sublime skills and terrible tackles. Here’s one from the latter.

Gears of War, for Xbox 360

By ShinyMedia on November 17th, 2006

Gears of War, for Xbox 360, is the greatest video game we’ve played this year. The graphics are beautiful and the gameplay is immersive. Whereas a lot of new 360 games don’t really look so different from Xbox titles, GoW really does show off Microsoft’s next-gen capabilities, as the clip below shows… BUY IT

Renault F1 engine sings ‘God Save the Queen’

By ShinyMedia on November 6th, 2006

Amazing what they can program a Formula 1 car’s engine to do these days… this Renault clearly has much more talent than, say, X Factor’s Chico.

Nokia Shorts mobile movies

By admin on October 31st, 2006

Want to get in early on the next Spielberg or Scorsese? You could do worse than check out the finalists for this year’s Nokia Shorts competition, which have just been announced. The rules were simple: entrants had to submit 15-second short films, which have now been weeded down to the five nominees. Brandish’s pick? ‘Ah Youth’, which sees an old lady deploying, ahem, unconventional means to frustrate a snogging couple in a lift. It must win, if only for the "Kiss my wrinkly arse" pay-off line.
