When it comes to jeans I always believe less is more, which is why I have never taken to Diesel jeans or even most Evisu but Levis, for me, Levis seem to get it right almost every time. However for the Levis Engineered Jeans I feel like they really dropped the ball. In theory I love the idea of an homage to the quirk in a twill that meant that early pairs of Levis would twist to the left but the finished product seemed a little cheap. Luckily for Levis few people shared my lack of enthusiasm and the Levis Engineered were an immediate success, 10 years on and the first purpose twisted pair of jeans is being re-released in a super cool collectors box. The special edition comes in the original three cuts: the Standard, the Giant and the Loose Culottes for girls and is slated for release in Spring/Summer 09, however the first 100 pairs will be available from Oki-Ni from early December.
