Adidas Originals x Alyasha x Kazuki- no leopard print!

By Jonathan Smith on October 29th, 2008

alayasha.jpg

A few weeks ago we gave you previews of the Jeremy Scott x Adidas Originals collab and I for one didn’t much like it. This week highsnobiety has got their hands on a tiny preview of Adidas Originals’ colabs with Alyasha (from Fiberops) and Kazuki (from Fragment Design). Though this preview is limited to one pic of each, the pieces look good and far better than the Jeremy Scott collaboration- i.e. no leopard print in sight.

With any luck Adidas Originals is back on track with these two partnerships, full previews coming in a few weeks time.

Jump through for more images and check out the highsnobiety site for quotes from both designers on their lines with Adidas.

Jeremy Scott and Adidas- I really like it, I mean hate it

By Jonathan Smith on October 8th, 2008

jeremyscott.jpgThe first lovely preview of the Adidas x Jeremy Scott colab is upon us, and I’m looking to those who boldly go where I choose not to… no, fear to tread. Those who say yes to leopard print and knocked off Armani. To those who still rock a greasy mullet and large faux jewel earings. That’s right, I’m looking to the Portuguese and their king Cristiano Ronaldo.

Jeremy Scott has created quite an enigma in this line, pieces being both awesome and totally shit all at the same time, which is quite an achievement. For example the sneakers have wings on them- awesome, but then they are gold and have wings on them- totally shit. All pieces are eye catching to say the least and do genuinely have a little extra oomph on what Adidas has produced in the past with any of its previous colabs (Yohji Yamamto and Stella McCartney spring to mind)- which is definitely a plus. Still I’m left wondering who exactly is going to wear any of it. Oh. Ronaldo.

Vibe Magazine’s celebratory boot

By Jonathan Smith on September 15th, 2008

vibe-magazine-20-adidas-forum-high-1.jpg

This year Vibe Magazine turns 15 and to commemorate this mile stone birthday the magazine, with the help of Adidas, has knocked up this limited edition Forum Hi. The sneaker has a subtle colourway but is high on detail with the use of ostrich and snake skin and patterned laces and stripes, also it is limited to only 1500 pairs- so I suggest you get your rear into gear and reach for that credit card now. However if you feel that 1500 pairs is a bit too common for you then there is a single super special signed pair of the Forums that will go to the highest bidder, for more info check it out on the Vibe website.

The Vibe Forum Hi is available from today at any Adidas Originals store and at shopadidas.com.

Jump through for some more pics!

Pointer yourself in the right direction

By Jonathan Smith on August 14th, 2008

RTEmagicC_point-feature-logo.jpg.gif

Pointer are a fashion given, their simple designed footwear borders the boundary between smart and casual wear. Owned by Carhartt, Pointer have dug themselves a little niche that is ever expanding in a business dominated by one swoosh and three stripes, with even the most hardcore of Ekin (a person who knows Nike back to front- work it out) dropping a pair of Pointers into their collection.

Nick Schonberger
of highsnobiety.com talks to Gareth Skewis, one of the brains behind Pointer on topics such as his influences, the market and Pointer’s competition. Check the interview out here and check some Pointer footwear out here, if you haven’t already.

Fashion Vs. Sport

By Jonathan Smith on August 7th, 2008

sportvfashion.jpg

The link between fashion and sport is undeniable, even the fashion heavyweights such as Ralph Lauren and Fred Perry have history in sporting activities of various types. Assuming you’re not head to toe in bespoke suit and a pair of wingtips it’s an almost certainty that you’re wearing some kind of sportswear, unless of course you’re reading this naked. In which case kudos. The link is even more noticeable in the street fashion scene with uber-weight sport’s companies like Adidas and Nike pretty much owning the game with vintage re-releases and limited editions.

The Fashion Vs. Sport exhibition at the V&A started this week and is running through to the 4th of January. The exhibition explores in depth the link between sport and fashion and looks to be a bloody fun and educational afternoon out. For more info get over to the V&A’s website here.

To celebrate the exhibition I have knocked together my top 5 sport fashion items, check them out after the jump!

Adidas Aditennis Hi

By admin on July 21st, 2008

aditennis hi.jpg
With Stan Smiths and Rod Lavers firmly in staple territory you can’t blame Adidas for re-releasing the Aditennis Hi (£41-50). Whilst they’re unlikely to become staples, they look great – benefitting from more than a slight resemblance to Raf Simons high tops.

Unlike the Raf Simons shoes, these go up to size 12 and are available from the Adidas online store right now.

When We Were Casuals – for all your Fila, Reebok and, um, deerstalker needs

By admin on June 19th, 2008

deerstalker.jpgSay what you like about 80s football hooligans, but even while they were battering people’s heads in with metal poles, they had style. Or that’s the popular perception nowadays anyway – I’m sure they couldn’t ALL have been clad in Lacoste. Of course we don’t call this style of dress hooliwear, or whatever – it’s “terrace fashion”, sweetheart.

When We Were Casuals is a site that caters to the gentleman who likes his Fila, Adidas and Barbour gear. Yes, you can find Reebok Classics there, but you can also get some slightly more unusual bits and bobs – howsabout a Christy’s Deerstalker with silk lining? You know it’s just the thing you need to finish off your outfit. Only £40, too.

Adidas Pro Model Vin trainers

By admin on February 29th, 2008

Adidasmidtop
The Adidas originals range hasn’t adapted
to the internet. They’re still hoarding most of their good items in store and
putting drips of it online. They do have an extensive range of trainers,
including these Pro
model Vin trainers
.

If the shoes make the man, then the laces
make the shoes. And the laces on these Pro models are only making them look
ugly. Imagine these trainers with white or plain blue laces. It’d look much
better, wouldn’t it? If you can get past this easily fixable fault, then these
are available from the Adidas Originals store for £90.

Adidas Rod Laver Vintage

By admin on February 6th, 2008

Adidasrodlaver
There’s times when you want your footwear
to be the centrepiece of your outfit and there’s times when you just want them
to bring together what you’re wearing. These Adidas
Rod Laver
trainers are for those latter occasions. With no branding on the
outside, it’s perfect for those times when you don’t want to feel like a
walking billboard.

These trainers aren’t going to rule the
world (none will, can you imagine a world run by a trainer? It would be
horrible) but at £15, they’re worth a go.

Adidas Originals denim by Diesel

By admin on February 5th, 2008

Adidieselcol

The Adidas originals range tends to throw
up interesting collaborations from time to time and this is no different. The originals
denim by Diesel range is an interesting mix – if only for the fact that you
wonder why Diesel agreed to it. It’s not bad in any way, it’s just that the
pieces are just Diesel jeans with some Adidas branding attached.

With that said, the Adidas logo was added
in an innovative manner. Adding the three stripes to the selvedge line is
especially inspired, although it may disappoint selvedge show offs who want to
brag about the quality of their jeans. The range is available from Adidas Originals stores and prices start from £115.

David Beckham strikes a pose for Adidas

By Isabelle on March 21st, 2007

Davidbeckham
Blaps! David Beckham’s new pictures for a campaign for Adidas makes him look like a wannabe gangster rapper, but more Vanilla Ice than Eminem. Don’t you think his leg looks really hairy? This is probably an attempt to rebrand him for the American market, ahead of his multi-million-dollar move to join ‘soccer’ team L.A. Galaxy this summer. Safe blud etc.
