If you’re interested in seeing the Umbro England kit then you’re probably down the pub watching the match against Slovakia, but here is the image waiting for you to pore over with a kebab when you get home.

On the surface it looks like a regular kit but they’ve really pushed for technological and tailoring improvements. I’ve put up the annotated picture so you can see the tailoring details, click the image to enlarge and check out videos with the designers below.

Brandish speaks to the team behind the Umbro England kit: David Blanch, Charlie Allen and Aitor Throup

By admin on March 28th, 2009

Today marked the launch of the Umbro England kit, with a special preview for press. The kit is being officially unveiled tomorrow at the England vs Slovakia match, but take my word for it when I say it’s pretty special!

We caught up with the trio behind the innovative design today and grilled them on the creative process behind this launch. David Blanch is the creative director for Umbro and an ex-footballer but his love of fashion runs deep. Topman’s Black Trouser Project

Love it or hate it, the opening of another Topman in the UK would be met with nothing more than a shrug. In fact, given their ubiquity, it would be met with a half shrug at best. However, news that a Topman will open in New York has created so much attention that Topman started the black trouser project to showcase some up and coming designers.

Featuring designers Patrick Ervell, Tim Hamilton, Aitor Throup, Ann-Sofie Back and Todd Lynn, this is the next logical step from their white shirt project. If you had to compare the two projects, I’d say that this is slightly more daring as there’s less you can do with trousers without making them totally unwearable. They’ll be available from October from $120 in the NY flagship store. I assume they’ll be available from the Oxford Circus branch and online as well from around the same time.
