Andre Benjamin (also known as Andre 3000) is taking part in the latest ‘Declare Yourself’ campaign which urges American youths to cast their vote as to who should be the next President of their country. Christina Aguilera and Jessica Alba also star in the campaign but it’s Andre’s image that has caught my attention.
Gagged with one of his own bow-ties, the campaign tells that “only you can silence yourself.”

Estelle, Ozwald Boateng, Nat Weller, Tolula Adeyemi and snowboarder/model Charlotte Dutton were some of the names who came to Harrods for the launch of a beaming André Benjamin’s Benjamin Bixby menswear line.
André 3000 as he is known to Outkast fans turned up looking suitably retro in turned-up jeans, green polo and a dogstooth jacket.

Scott Schuman had a starstruck moment recently when he snapped André Benjamin outside a shop on the last day of Pitti Uomo.
Apparently the Outkast singer is a big fan of the site and it’s no small wonder considering Benjamin’s interest in menswear and his clothing line Benjamin Bixby. Looking good in a simple ensemble of battered sunhat, white shirt and yellow trousers Benjamin is a picture of easy summer chic. Note the watch with striped bracelet which gives the outfit a bit of interest.

This is only vaguely fashion related but who can resist Brandish favourites Kanye West and Andre 3000 doing a bit of choreographed dancing? The other partakers in this slightly bizarre video are beatmakers Sa-Ra and P.Diddy’s former butler-turned-singer Fonzworth Bentley. Together they call themselves C.O.L.O.U.R.S which stands for cool outrageous lovers of uniquely raw style.
Bringing this back to fashion, Taz of Sa-Ra has been featured in a couple of Sartorialist photographs on Men.Style and seems to have a very eye catching look. Do we have a future style icon in the making?

Non followers of Hip-Hop may be surprised to know Erykah Badu is widely credited with transforming Andre 3000′s – and to a lesser extent, Common’s – style. On the basis of this Complex cover shoot, you could say that Kelis is doing the same for Nas.
In the cover shoot – which was reminiscent of Lupe Fiasco’s first album – Nas dons Bottega Veneta, Prada and Marc Jacobs for a sportswear inspired shoot. The only top grade rapper left to jump upon the fashion bandwagon now is Jay-Z, who wears stylish clothes but refuses to slim down in any of his clothing – giving him the look of Tony Soprano rather than a fashion forward gentleman. I suspect that’s what he was going for.

Remember that T-shirt trend we featured a good while back? It went from Band members to trainers to TV shows (Although no one took me up on my WIre offer) and now they’ve started featuring song lyrics. If you’ve ever wanted to show your appreciation for Andre 3000 and Big Boi in t-shirt form, this Rocksmith tee is the way to do it.
Even if you were a major fan of Outkast, you’d be forgiven for not immediately knowing where these lyrics came from. Heck, I didn’t know until I listened to the song again. Given the amount of knowledge needed to get the reference – who still listens to ATLiens? – this amounts to the highest form of musical snobbery. If you’re into that kind of thing, then you can get this from Karmaloop.

It’s rare to see a hip-hop artist so readily accepted by the fashion elite like Kanye West has been. The only other contender is Andre 3000. However, Mr. West is on a level of his own when it comes to designer collaborations. In addition to his Air Yeezys, his clothing label Pastelle also has an upcoming sunglasses collection with Ksubi.
While they look great, they also look pretty similar to the American Apparel sunglasses Isabelle posted yesterday. As the amount of sunglass designs are limited at best, this usually wouldn’t be a problem. But seeing as the AA glasses are going for £30 and Ksubi’s own glasses are retailing at around £100, it’s a bit ridiculous to try and sell these for $2000. If price is no object to you, then you can get these from October.

In his latest film André Benjamin (pictured at the preview) got a taste for short shorts, the kind that basketball players wore in the ’70s. Semi-Pro was released last week and is a Will Ferrell comedy about you guessed it, basketball in the ’70s.
Benjamin told the New York Times “by the time we started filming, the shorts were like a
second skin to me,” he says. “It seems like you can cut through the air
a little bit better in them.”
So will they feature in his upcoming Benjamin Bixby collection? Well maybe, the range is scheduled to come out in autumn and is inspired by college football circa 1935, André explains that Benjamin Bixby is someone who is "kind of like your uncle, or your granddad, and he has a
closet full of experiences and clothes, and he’s been around the
world".
I’ve got high hopes for this collection, André is a great dresser and visited Italian Factories and Parisian textile fairs to get some inside info. He even garnered some advice from Vogue’s Anna Wintour so I’m pretty sure it should be a hit. One question though, I love his outfit (which includes a Benjamin Bixby tie worn as a belt) but the trousers seem like they could do with a little tailoring, am I right?

Huggy Bear, Snoop Dogg, Andre 3000; no matter how old you are, there has always been that outrageously cool, pimped-out personality. In the latest issue of L’Uomo Vogue, Snoop Dogg gets kitted out in clothes fit for a street legend.
Purple velvet suits, golf-check trousers and the obligatory afro complete the look but despite its eccentric ingredients can, if styled correctly, make up an approaching trend that can be woven into your wardrobe. Take some wide-leg trousers, a pair of brogues, a patterned jumper and a bold shirt as a starting point. Accessorise with elaborate ties, belts and a fabric-blend bowler bag for a strong look, see after the jump for image and product details.
NOTE: using words that you imagine to be street lingo (you know the ones) will in no way add to this look.
