I’ve just caught up on the contents of the September 2008 issue of the newly Fabien Baron-designed Interview magazine (we featured Marc Jacob’s cover a few months back) and found these pictures of Stefano Pilati, the YSL designer and all-round sartorial inspiration.
I can’t even write about them except to just point out the obvious: they’re jaw-droppingly brilliant.
See after the jump for more!

Clothing, Coats & Jackets, Designer Spotlight, Suits & Tailoring

While potentially worrying and probably not at all a good sign, Andy Warhol’s ‘Death Scenes’ have always interested me. His principle was that by repeating the same image of a man impaled on a lamp-post (that’s just one of the prints,) death became strangely banal. This blazer might not be all blood ‘n’ guts (which with McQueen’s history is rather surprising,) but it is undeniably interesting. With city scenes and a fitted shape, this jacket could be worn at work, in the park, at a party and even to a music festival. I like that Matches put it with jeans for a modern edge and if I could afford the £258 price tag, I would go for a crisp white shirt and an Alber Elbaz-style floppy bow-tie. In faded, purple velvet. *Sigh*

Brandish favourites D.I.E have recently sneaked out their A/W08 collection. Expanding on the pop culture theme, they’ve now included Andy Warhol amongst the influences for their tees. T-shirts aside, they’ve included shawl collars on check jackets, colour blocked jumpers and geometric print cardigans. View more of the collection after the jump.

Designer Spotlight, Heroes and Celebrities

Continuing his penchant for artist/fashion collaborations, Marc Jacobs has taken to this month’s Interview cover as Andy Warhol. The magazine was founded by Warhol and this month marks the artist’s 80th anniversary.
WWD has reported that the fashion designer was shot by Mikael Jansson after Todd Eberle spotted him at a party and told Interview’s Glenn O’Brien “Gee, Marc Jacobs is the new Andy Warhol.” WWD tells of how Marc was told of similarities between himself and Warhol but claims “Warhol is Warhol. He’s practically a god. I thought, ‘I’m going to get a lot of hell for this.’”

T-shirts, Polos & Shirts
By admin on January 18th, 2008

In an ongoing bid to deny that the weather
is awful, I’ve taken to looking for the perfect t-shirt. It’s a long and
arduous task. I’ve travelled high and low, ridden treacherous seas, gone to
parts of the world Ray Mears is scared of and trawled a couple of websites.
Whilst my journey is far from complete, I
have found a few nice tees. This 2K
by Gingham shirt features some iconic imagery from photographer Nat
Finkelstein. I do like this top, but I must say that it’s a little
underwhelming. Finkelstein’s photography could have been used in a more
interesting manner than simply printing it onto the tee verbatim.
