Military inspired backpack From Marc by Marc Jacobs

By Laura on April 11th, 2011

Over the last few weeks, I have noticing a lot of Londoners rocking the backpack. After all it is a great way to carry all your things, whether your off to work or going for an impromptu picnic.
One backpack that has caught my eye in particular is this military inspired bag from Marc by Marc Jacobs. The bag features logo patches and two easily accessible front pockets. While the bag’s design is mostly gray, contrast is provided by the use of off-white towards the base and fastening strap as well as brown for the shoulder straps.

Get Outdoors With The Epperson Mountaineering Backpack

By Laura on February 5th, 2011

We love this latest backpack from Epperson Mountaineering.
Constructed in their Libby, Montana workshop, they have been making functional, yet stylish backpacks for over 30 years. The ballistic nylon combined with a more progressive color-blocked design makes this bag look good on or off the mountain. We particularly love the tribal patterned straps.
The bag is available for € 169.86 at Oi Polloi.

The Master-Piece Over V4 Backpack

By Laura on January 31st, 2011

The Master-Piece Over V4 Backpack came out a few months ago now, but I have decided to write about it anyways, as every time I see one I get a little bit of bag envy.

Made by the renowned Japanese bag manufacturers Master-Piece, the V4 was made exclusively for the UK market. With a nylon upper with suede trims, each bag is monotone with very minimal branding. But what makes these bags so great is the incredibly vibrant colours, and the attention to detail. From the almost perfectly matched suede and nylon, to the brushed steel buckles this bag has been well thought out and designed

However, they don’t come cheap priced at £185. I guess I can keep dreaming for now.

Kris Van Assche for Eastpak

By Laura on January 25th, 2011

Over the past year Eastpak has collaborated with the likes of Raf Simons, Rick Owens, Christopher Shannon and Gaspard Yurkievich. The latest of these high end collaborations, sees the backpack maker working with Kris Van Assche.

The Belgian designer first established himself in the fashion world as Hedi Slimane’s assistant on the Rive Gauche Homme line for Yves Saint Laurent. He continued to collaborate with Slimane at Christian Dior for the launch and development of the Dior Homme collection. In January 2005, Assche presented his own men’s collection for the first time in Paris during Men’s Fashion Week. Today he heads his own label, KRIS VAN ASSCHE, and is the artistic director for Dior Homme

The collaboration with Eastpak see’s Assche bringing his expertise to the line of bags set for release in June. Based on early promo shots we can expect backpacks and oversized shoulder bags in materials such as parachute cloth, leather and rough cotton.

Raf Simons‘ AW colab with Eastpak is one of his most conventional yet but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing worth buying.
The shiny finish looks the best on the duffle bag, which would make a great bag for the weekend or the gym. The creased finish adds a twist to the classic Eastpak shape making a great bag for those who want a bit of fashion with their functionality. The one I’m least sure about is the check with patches, is it just me or does it look a bit Rage Against the Machine fan art?
