White Vans Man: Pete Sparrow shows what makes Vans special

By cchapman on July 20th, 2009

Pete_Sparrow_White_VANS.jpgMaybe its something to do with the fact that shoes for the last few years have been low profile (read: thin soled) but there’s something about the chunky soles on a pair of classic Vans canvas boat shoes that is looking very right now. Gorgeous photo blog Backyard Bill captures the essential cool of white Vans in the latest update, featuring the charmingly named Pete Sparrow. This UK-born-Manhattan-living adonis pairs his Vans with everything, from swimming shorts and rolled up indigo denim to, my favourite, these pale, loose jogging pants.

Of course photogenic Mr Sparrow could make pretty much anything look cool, but I stand by my assertion that thick-soled Vans are looking pretty hot right now, making them anything but just another pair of white plimsolls. Also seen recently in my Unis shorts post, Office have Vans in stock in a range of tempting colours besides white, the navy ones being notable for their nautical air.
