Sting takes one step forward and one step back.

By Jonathan Smith on August 5th, 2008

Old men should have beards, as soon as you hit 40, along with pipe smoking and walking with a cane, it’s your god given obligation. Which was why I was so impressed to see Sting‘s facial hair from his gig this weekend in New York.

However after Sting had very quickly and in one fell swoop shot up in my estimation, he rocketed right back down with a almighty bump. I am, of course, talking about that skin tight long sleeve top that the ex Police-man was sporting. No matter how age defyingly ripped you are, a 56 year old man should never wear skin tight anything. What’s wrong with a bit of tweed?

What do you think? Name your best dressed old men, bearded or not.

Esquire magazine’s best dressed list

By admin on June 11th, 2008

Esquire magazine’s best dressed list has been gathering attention lately – mostly for not featuring David Beckham. Hopefully, other magazines will follow suit and realise that they’re not contractually obliged to include Mr Beckham on the list. People who did make the list include Jeremy Paxman, Barack Obama, Lapo Elkann, Fabio Capello, Christian Bale and Lupe Fiasco.

Kanye West is notably absent from the list and adding insult to omission, someone even manages to spell his name wrong. I wouldn’t describe Fiasco’s style as ‘outlandish hoodies and oversized trainers’ (how do they know his trainers are too big for him?) but West’s style is certainly more refined than Lupe’s.
