Iggy Pop has, in previous seasons, been declared by designers as high-fashion inspiration. And for many valid reasons; he rocked skinny leather trousers long before Kate Moss, meddled with blood long before Angelina Jolie and played the effeminate rocker with crazy hair long before Russell Brand.
But when Brandish’s own Isabelle reported on the menswear trend of ‘Medges,’ (men’s footwear with a Wedge heel,) no-one was expecting the trend to filter down to Crocs.
As good old Oscar Wilde once mused, “fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months.” Well, there’s no time like the present!

This week’s ‘Love The Look’ sees Joshua Jackson, and boyfriend of Diane Kruger, looking incredibly dapper in a Hollywood screen-star suit. I’m guessing that, by the waistcoat, details and fact that just about every Hollywood man at the moment is hooked, that the suit is by Tom Ford but who care’s about a lack of originality when you’ve made this much effort!
The details are the key: the perfect black buttons, the patent glint of the shoes, the bold bow-tie and silk (yet classy) lapel of the jacket. Joshua was attending the Jaeger-Le Coultre Gala at the 65th Venice Film Festival and while most men would look a bit pants next to a Chanel muse and seasoned-wearer of Dior, Elie Saab and Prada, Jackson proves he’s a worthy sartorial opponent.

I had originally planned this to be a post all about Quentin Tarantino’s lack of style, but then I realised that he wasn’t the worst offender. I can barely believe I wrote that sentence. This is a man who has the worst leather jacket I’ve ever seen and yet he still isn’t amongst the worst dressed at Cannes. That honour goes to this fine group of gentlemen pictured above.
If you ever needed proof that money can’t buy style, the above picture would be it. Even when they’re following the unwritten premiere code of dressing like you’re going to a funeral, they still get it very wrong. This look would be acceptable if you were a teenager who had to wear an older brother’s suit, but for a grown man – and one who could afford a Savile Row suit if they were so inclined – this is just tragic.

Men.Style.com has a retrospective of its top 20 Cannes fashion moments. Most of the fashion moments come from the 60′s and 70′s, the 80′s has two looks, the 90′s has three and the noughties only get one, that being Brad Pitt’s Tom Ford suit.
The fact that there was only one choice from the 00′s must prove that male movie stars have stopped making an effort. It’s like they’re all afraid of being featured on the worst dressed list and have decided to dress in black suit and tie wherever they go. I’m resisting the urge to go on a rant, but you know there’s a problem when sartorial dullard Daniel Craig gets feted for his fashion sense.

The Feeling were papped playing at a Cannes party in Soho House yesterday and as usual they were all looking very well dressed. I don’t care much for their music but they have done for rolled-up shirts what Timmy Mallet did for plasters on the chin.
Lead vocalist Dan Gillespie Sells caught my eye as he was in mid-rock out pose sporting a pair of skeezy loafers complete with requisite clashing socks. Fashion and humour rarely make a good mix but skeezy loafers are a personal favourite of mine. See after the jump for the ins and outs of skeezy loafers.
