Last Friday, Jay-Z turned up on Jonathan Ross and as the guestlist was revealed, I was delighted to see good ol’ Jay-Z rocking the Geek-Chic look. But sadly for Mr. Z (can we call him that?) Matt Damon had tried the look over two months before. Usually an all-round innovator and owner of his own label, I have come to expect more of this man with those infamous 99 problems.
Okay, okay- maybe Im being slightly sarcastic but let’s be honest; that beige jacket is rather horrific. However, I’m liking the ‘Globe-trotter’ scarf tied into the loop of his jeans and with quotes like “home was like the cliché of rough…when I was nine I saw someone shot for the first time” and “my favourite is heartfelt music… I listen to Coldplay, 50 Cent, Kanye West,” what’s not to love?

I’m officially torn- Luke Worrall, the male-supermodel and It-boy of the London fashion scene has been spotted (now that’s an understatement) with Kelly Osbourne. My question is whether she is a suitable match for a rising fashion star. I’m personally not a fan but then I’m a fashion writer who is rather over-protective when it comes to sartorial stars. That’s right Tom Cruise- don’t even try to get near our Aggy!
The couple were spotted at the ‘Night of Tease’ fundraiser at the Cafe de Paris on the 15th of May and have since been seen in more cute outfits and even cuter embraces. What do you think? Does ‘Worrelly‘ have a future or are we agreed that Ms. Osbourne and Mr. Worrall are as bad a match as Amy Winehouse and ‘Free Nelson Mandela?’ Poll after the jump.

There are times I love gorging over celebrity looks; Cannes glamour, Oscar glory, MTV glitz. Then there are times when rather rubbish boybands return with a receding hairline and a group of barely-dressed female dancers, thinking they can win us all over with a rendition of an old classic and a bit of David Brent-dancing. Of course to pretend that BoyZone did not contribute to the Reid family soundrack would be a lie as Ronan’s “When You Say Nothing At All” has not only made my Mum cry but got my brother 16,414 Youtube hits. (I have, myself, never been influenced by that Irish twang and chorus of fiddles and flutes.)
Imagine my horror when the band recently returned to the O2 Arena in lamé trousers and chest-revealing waistcoats. I never thought I would be saying this but for once Take That could provide sutiable style inspiration.

There seems to be a formula for the young star; grey, Dior Homme-style suits, Converse-style trainers and now the latest addition; faux facial hair.
Here we have Shia LaBeouf- star of the latest Indiana Jones film. LaBeouf has come a long way since his days as the curly haired, Hawaiian shirt-wearing Louis Stevens and the cover of this month’s US GQ sees him in great trench coats, nautical-inspired knits and skinny jeans.
I do, however, object to that follicle growth appearing in his mouth region (could I have made that sound any more disgusting?!) It looks like GQ have got the make-up artist to pencil in a goatee. Ugh!

Matt,
We at Brandish have talked about this and I drew the unlucky straw of having to tell you that your outfit, you know the glasses and print-knit jumper; well you’re just a little late for the geek-chic look.
Check Luella S/S 2008 or Raf Simons A/W 2005 and you’ll see that while you were in leathers and manmade fibres doing Bourne Identity, we were rocking Clark Kent shades and vintage ties.
See after the jump for more information and pictures.

Emile Hirsch seems to have perfected the laid-back but oh-so-stylish celebrity look. Whether on his Another Man cover or at an early morning press conference, Hirsch is usually seen open-collared with a smile and noticeable lack of “gay guy” fake-tan.
At the European Premiere of Speed Racer, Hirsch turned up in a brilliant pin-stripe suit (possibly navy inspired?) and a relaxed shirt. There was no fussy detail or shiny shoes but instead, Hirsch went without jewellery and wore his hair as if he was attending a Sunday Starbucks. I guess it’s a shame then that the whole look was rained upon- literally.

Now how do I say this?
Last night I was watching Katie & Peter: The Next Chapter for business purposes of course, and I was faced with this rather challenging quote. Challenging? Peter Andre?
Yes I know, these two words are rarely seen in the same sentence but when you hear this I’m sure you will understand.
“I adore Pete’s look…He looks like a big gay guy…I think guys should look immaculate…You know, completely hairless and all- Pete calls it the boy band look.”
Thanks for that Jordan- I’ll be sure to come to you for advice next time I have to choose between the Diet Butcher and the Dior Homme.

Okay, okay- so Madonna on a magazine cover isn’t strictly menswear news but if anyone has pushed the boundaries of androgyny, it’s Madonna. As she appears on the cover of the latest issue of Dazed and Confused clad in horns, Chanel boxing gloves and peek-a-boo lingerie, Madonna is once again mixing men’s and femme’s.
