Skins fashion details now available on-line!

By Will Reid on February 5th, 2009

skins.jpgThe third episode of this season’s Skins is out this week and the series is already proving that the youthful fashion beacon has been passed onto a new cast. From the over-sized tees and shrunken dungarees of Freddie to the vintage sportswear worn with careful nonchalance by the fabulous Cook (on the right.) Channel 4 has launched a full on media campaign with the launch of a new season and this includes a weekly report from costume designer Edward K Gibbon.

Follow this link for the E4 website and see after the jump for the low-down on the style of the new Skins fellows.

Celeb Style: Steve Jones’ Summer Lovin’

By Will Reid on August 20th, 2008

stevejones.jpgSteve Jones was seen on Monday with rumoured new girlfriend Fearne Cotton. A stylish, undoubtedly TV-friendly pair, I have to admit that I actually think Steve is better dressed on this particular date.

Let’s start with the leather jacket- this staple item is unexpectedly hard to pull off (without looking like a T-Bird; never a good look.) Jones’ version is masculine yet still on trend and the slim-fit detail means that your swagger won’t be shapeless. The white canvas brogues are a perfect summer piece and can be worn on holiday with a pair of shorts or actually in the UK with jeans, as seen here. Add black Wayfarer-style glasses and run the risk of looking like a trend-victim or try a non-Ray Ban style and be all-out original, fashion quirkiness will get you a Brandish A-Grade.

Love The Look: George Lamb’s Lashings of Fashion Fabulousness

By Will Reid on July 21st, 2008

georgebblb.jpgBig Brother’s Little Brother (BBLB) presenters have a tradition for being rather cool fellows and after the likes of Dermot O’Leary and Russell Brand, George Lamb is the latest man to be lighting our screens with his look. Take a look at the screencap (left) from a recent episode of BBLB; the cropped and turned up trousers, the worn-in brogues, the grey (still a key colour) and the Alber Elbaz-inspired bow-tie.

Topped off by the same messy but manicured hair that catapulted the likes of Bob Geldof to style icon status, Lamb has the foundations of an up ‘n’ coming sartorial institution.

Rumours abound that Henry Holland and Alexa Chung are going to present a T4 fashion show and the latest is that it will be called ‘Frock Me’… geddit?

Alexa Chung doesn’t have any formal fashion credentials but thanks to her quirky style she’s become a bit of a fashion icon for the indie crowd and topped the Guardian’s Summer Cool list. It’ll be interesting to see her pair up with Henners, hopefully they’ll hit it off and have us chuckling through our hangovers.

Can’t be any worse than watching 20-something barmen/models/whatever bicker on Shipwrecked that’s for sure.

Lessons from Big Brother 9: how not to wear a suit

By admin on June 9th, 2008

luke_440x227.jpg

With Big Brother set to take over many people’s lives (in the UK) I thought it only fair that I start judging the male housemates style. I had planned to focus on everyone, but Luke really stood out from the crowd.

If you’re not on a first name basis with the contestant or – god forbid – don’t watch Big Brother, Luke’s a student who is a big fan of suits. However the suits he wears are the type that most students would have – oversized ugly ones. I appreciate the effort, but he hasn’t pulled the look off (see for yourself after the jump) instead of the powerful young man he no doubt envisions in his head, he looks like he stole his older brother’s suit.

Update: Ewan McGregor for Davidoff

By Will Reid on February 26th, 2008

Davidoff_adventure_ewan_mcgregor
A few weeks ago, I posted on the first pics from Ewan McGregor’s campaign for Davidoff’s ‘Adventure’ fragrance. So when this TV advert rudely interrupted my usual Sunday morning T4 routine, I was surprised to realise what it was. Unlike most luxury label adverts, this little film is subtle, succinct and pretty spectacular. It focuses around McGregor’s monologue on the usual blend of journey, travel, enlightenment and charitable experience but it is the stunning visuals which draws the viewer in.

I am beginning to think that this may be a trend in advertising; look at Louis Vuitton’s latest TV feature with wide-eyed travellers roaming the world in LV-labelled luggage. As I said before, McGregor is a relatable star and a man’s man- he’s not airbrushed or entourage-followed and this campaign only furthers my belief in Davidoff’s reinvention as a modern brand for the modern male.

See after the jump for Ewan’s latest televisual adventure (see what I did there?!)
