WWD reports that John Galliano, captain of the good ship Christian Dior is set to be made a chevalier of the French Legion of Honor- which I’m assuming is the same as being knighted- knighted for services to fashion no less. How very French of them.

The fashion world has awoken today to the sad news that it has lost one of its most beloved designers. Yves Saint Laurent passed away Sunday evening after a long undisclosed illness, aged 71.
The French icon had been battling ill health for some time, and was hospitalised last July with acute respiratory difficulties. According to WWD, he had been bedridden recently, and died at his home yesterday in Paris.
