Gallery: Giles Deacon’s first menswear collection for New Look

By admin on November 21st, 2008

Giles Deacon‘s first ever menswear collection hit the shops yesterday, the 25-piece collection is made up of wearable wardrobe basics. T-shirts, jeans, jackets and shirts are all given the Giles touch with neon detailing and gold chains. This is good news for men’s fashion as it seems that every designer/high street collab now has a menswear range, and not a minute too soon.
We’ve picked out a selection from the collection which is available to buy in New Look stores or online. I think my favourite piece is the grey striped shirt with coral-lined cuffs, what’s yours?

Kidrobot x Shöfolk

By Jonathan Smith on November 4th, 2008

shofolkkidrobot2.jpg

King of collabs, Kidrobot has collaborated (shocker) with Shöfolk to bring you this interesting piece of footwear. With a grey suede upper, cobalt blue sole and colourful “Kidrobot” detail on the ankle this shoe is perhaps a little more liberal for Shöfolk and a little more straight laced (pun intended) for Kidrobot than what they are both used to producing, but it works and works well.

The shoe which is more of a smart trainer than a casual shoe and will be available on the Shöfolk website plus their London store from late November, but if you like what you see don’t sleep on this because the release is limited to just 100 pairs, retailing at £120 each.

Jeremy Scott and Adidas- I really like it, I mean hate it

By Jonathan Smith on October 8th, 2008

jeremyscott.jpgThe first lovely preview of the Adidas x Jeremy Scott colab is upon us, and I’m looking to those who boldly go where I choose not to… no, fear to tread. Those who say yes to leopard print and knocked off Armani. To those who still rock a greasy mullet and large faux jewel earings. That’s right, I’m looking to the Portuguese and their king Cristiano Ronaldo.

Jeremy Scott has created quite an enigma in this line, pieces being both awesome and totally shit all at the same time, which is quite an achievement. For example the sneakers have wings on them- awesome, but then they are gold and have wings on them- totally shit. All pieces are eye catching to say the least and do genuinely have a little extra oomph on what Adidas has produced in the past with any of its previous colabs (Yohji Yamamto and Stella McCartney spring to mind)- which is definitely a plus. Still I’m left wondering who exactly is going to wear any of it. Oh. Ronaldo.

H&M does Comme des Garçons

By Jonathan Smith on October 1st, 2008

comme-des-garcons-hm-mens-4.jpgMajor fashion retailer H&M has got together with Japanese fashion ninjas Comme des Garçons to bring you the latest in affordable fashion. H&M is not new to collaborating with the big wigs of fashion, their ’04 colab with Kaiser Karl Lagerfeld springs immediately to mind, so the new line of clothes has been eagerly awaited for months now and has sprung many an internet debate mostly focusing on the cost of the pieces which are to be expected to be on the pricey side for the rock bottom retailer H&M.

Personally I fear that the prices and the clothes themselves may fall into a no man’s land between the thrifty ubiquity of H&M’s standard line and the high level exclusivity of Comme des Garçon’s, both end’s of the scale cancelling each other out landing the line in a chasm of mediocrity… though, *pause for effect* only time will tell…
