You may have noticed I’ve been away, I’ve just come back from a great trip to Burkina Faso where Sebago shoes are totally the in thing (stay tuned for an East Africa fashion round up). The shoe company is celebrating their 40th birthday with a limited edition range in conjuction with Colette and Parisian agency La MJC.

La MJC’s have two pairs to their name, pictured right, feature the agency’s trademark colours and little crosses on the back. Colette have entrusted Jack Spade with their pair, which is a great mix of colours for summer, love the orange dipped toe! The shoes will be available instore from the 21st March.

Fantastic Man X Byredo, the new scent for summer?

By Colin Chapman on March 19th, 2009

As if creating an amazing magazine wasn’t enough, the talented team behind Dutch-based Fantastic Man have teamed up with Swedish scent makers Byredo to release their own self-named cologne. The scent was launched exclusively at Colette in Paris on March 9th. It’s debatable whether the cologne could ever smell as delicious as the magazine itself (or is that just me?) which is printed on the most sublime high-grade paper although given the impeccable taste of the magazine expectations are high.

The all star roll call of ingredients (or should that be ‘notes’ in parfumier speak?) certainly sounds promising: Bergamot, Star Anise, Cardamom, Geranium, Incense, Lavender, Vetyver, Moss and Patchouli. I’m taking bets that Dover Street Market will be the London stockists being the nearest thing we have to Colette. Keep your eyes peeled and nostrils, um, flared?

Stopping over in Paris on the way back from my hols, I paid a visit to Colette and excitingly had a quick sniff; it’s a great clean citrus smell perfectly balanced with musk. Can’t wait to have a proper smell when it reaches our British shores! -Ed.

Vans ICONoclast: Henry Rollins

Henry Rollins
the man, the legend, the buzz cut has been named as one of Vans ICONOclasts along with other (but less awesome) icons; Lemmy Klimister, Stacy Peratta, Robert Williams, John Cardiel, Wes Humpston, Joel Tudor and Colette. This campaign from Vans is an insight into each of the ICONoclasts believes, who their icons are and what they think ICONoclast means. I’m not so fussed about what any of the other ‘Icons’ have to say, perhaps with the exception of Lemmy but I freaking love Henry Rollins, he’s smart, funny, build like a brick shit house and in this of climate quiffs and 1920′s heavy knit jerseys he is a man with a pair of clippers and a plain black t-shirt who can out cool you all, proving once again that cool doesn’t and isn’t try hard.

Though my enthusiasm wanes over certain ICONoclasts I have to say all these people have in some small way influenced popular culture and fashion so it’s well worth a read, even if you have no interest in any of these peeps or don’t even know who they are. Check the site out here, treat it as a reference point on how to think cool as well as look cool.

MOUSTACHE GLOVES! MOUSTACHE GLOVES! MOUSTACHE GLOVES!

Moustache gloves. You heard me, moustache gloves. Just in case this hasn’t sunk in: MOUSTACHE GLOVES! In a week of strange pairings Jack Spade has knocked up these eccentric hand socks for the Colette x Gap pop up store in New York. Other than they are available in three colours there’s not a great deal I can say about these because lets face it the pictures speak for themselves, more of which are available over at highsnobiety.com.

dVb- Men’s jeans by Victoria Beckham

By Will Reid on March 12th, 2008

1522articleimage_2The latest news on the fashion circuit is of Posh Spice’s new venture-into the world of men’s jeans. According to an article on DNR, Beckham "despises skinny jeans on men." Ouch, first we have to endure the horror of her Barbie-pink twin-set and now we are treated to her ever so subtle sartorial touch. (I really do try to reserve my criticism but give a guy a break!) "Guys should wear jeans big and baggy, with a big pair of boots or flip-flops–exactly how you see David when he’s out in his jeans and T-shirt," is the advice Victoria gives to the new generation of denim-doyens.

They are made from Japanese denim and design features range from the ‘aged-leather’ waistband logo to the purple pocket lining.  With the woman’s collection being stocked in stores from Colette to Harvey Nichols, it will be little surprise that the same stores are already enquiring about the brand-tastic bootlegs (denim not drink.) Prices range from £110 to £143 and the designs hit the market in August.
