Trend Transition… Eyebrow-Free Faces?!

By wreid on July 17th, 2009

eyebrows.jpgBack when she started out, Karen Elson had her eyebrows infamously off-ed at the suggestion of Steven Meisel. She catapulted to international fame fronting high-fashion campaigns and covers from W magazine to Italian Vogue. All this would suggest that the loss of one’s eyebrows is actually rather beneficial- a debate being started over on the Daily Mail website. In the latest Givenchy advert, model Adriana Lima shows off a pair of bleached brows and the Daily Mail is as always on the attack.

Unfortunately for my now traumatised retinas, the newspaper made up a few of Britain’s biggest stars without eyebrows (image above.) I’m not a fan; waking up without eyebrows would be one of my worst nightmares. I can understand that on someone staggeringly beautiful and Elson-esque, a lack of eyebrows would only increase allure. However, this is most definitely one trend I pray does not make the leap from womenswear to menswear. Let’s leave it to the models!

Roger Daltrey is the latest in our famous waistcoat wearers, after Boyzone, Daniel Radcliffe and TV on the Radio’s Kyp Malone before him.

Appearing onstage with the rest of The Who in Canada recently he was sporting said waistcoat, fine weave shirt, black jeans and black motorcycle boots. What do you think, is the outfit a success or a flop? Take our poll after the jump!

DETAILS March 2008-Hayden Christensen

By Will Reid on February 21st, 2008

HaydenchristensendetailsThe latest issue of Details proves that this is a magazine for the fresh faces and rising stars. From Daniel Radcliffe in leather to Jonathan Rhys Meyers in too-tight jersey, we now have another young star who’s set to be a success. And after what feels like forever, we have a subtle cover which just oozes cool (did anyone else find Radcliffe’s ‘tache slightly scary?) Mr Christensen sails dangerously close to the James Dean stereotype but has just enough personality to pull it of without leaving the reader feeling as if they should watch the publicised film/line/fragrance out of pity. The photo-spread is dark, unshaven and unapologetic. Hayden appears determined not to fall into the pretty-boy category and this allows you to think he’s cool without feeling guilty. Inside, we have articles on Somalian gangs, Hollywood smiles, a How-to on Divorce and an interesting looking article on that age-old question- Does size matter? Prepare yourselves for this, it look set to be big.

See after the jump for more of Hayden’s shoot.
