The Nike Ralston Premium TAPE

By Laura on September 12th, 2011

We have been predicting for a while now that the desert boot would be a popular trend this season – and it looks like we were right. Nike, is the latest brand to jump on the band wagon with the Ralston Premium TAPE sneaker.

The burgundy suede shoe, has clearly been inspired by the desert boot silhouette, with its minimalistic construction, three eyelets and matching flat laces. What I like most about this shoe is the subtle attention to detail, from the embossed Nike logo on the tongue, to the tape seams and even the corresponding burgundy soles, coming together to create am understated yet eye-catching urban look.

The Nike Ralston Premium TAPE is set to go on sale October 8

Supreme teams up with Clarks on new desert boot

By Laura on March 31st, 2011

It seems like brand collaborations are all the rage at the moment, but I was especially excited when I heard that Supreme and Clarks had teamed up to bring us a new take on the classic desert boot.
Supreme has taken the hugely popular British classic, and redesigned the ankle area slightly, sloping the back and adding an extra lace attachment in the form of a hook eye.

The boots will be available in the standard black, gray and navy blue, but they have also made one the Supreme red that looks amazing. No news on the release date yet but we expect them to retail for about £165.00

Style Watch: The Desert Boot

By Laura on January 21st, 2011

The Desert Boot was first made popular in the 1940’s and has since has been revived, replicated and reinterpreted so many times by so many different people over the years it has never really fallen out of style. The first ever Desert Boot was created by Nathan Clark, whilst serving in a Burmese military outpost with the West African Brigade, and the Clarks shoe brand still lists them as one of their most popular shoes today.

So how should you wear them this season? The Desert Boot typically comes in two different materials, leather and suede, making them easy to wear with just about everything. Although that said, do NOT wear them with a suit. Generally I prefer to see them paired with dark wash denim jeans and plain shirt.

However, as we head towards spring, another great way to wear the look is with a relaxed chino. The desert boot are generally low to mid-cut, meaning they can work great as a sort of modified deck shoe.

The Desert Boot is a cult classic, and is definitely a must have for your spring wardrobe.

The Desert Boot is a design classic and is one of those items which never really goes out of style. I recently saw a well-dressed chap on the street sporting a suede pair with some tracksuit-bottom style cuffed trousers and it made a great outfit.

Clarks Originals
have some great traditional colours available for Autumn, their Desert Boot comes in cream, tan and ebony. They’ve also updated the look and brought out a pair in shimmering peach or silver and they’re about a hundred times better looking than they sound on paper.

The peach pair would look great with some faded grey jeans and in my dreams I’d love to see the silver pair as part of an all-metallic outfit… What? Pictures after the jump.
