Julie Verhoeven Tees for Mulberry

By Will Reid on April 13th, 2008

mulberrytee2.JPGJulie Verhoeven, the artist and fashion-collaboration extraordinaire has designed a set of t-shirts with her illustrations of animals and other strange creatures. Vogue UK reports that Verhoeven’s fun and frivolous tees are in-store now for both guys and girls at £50 each. Verhoeven relays that “the artwork for the T-shirts came about by wanting a little bit of loopyness for springtime and letting loose the Mulberry menagerie of daft animals.” I couldn’t agree more- as seen in previous posts, I am also feeling the pressure of season transition and these are a designer-label colour boost. Wear them with jeans for day or with thin cardigans in berry tones and the Uniqlo chinos for a low-key evening look. Verhoeven’s previous collection for Mulberry, a collection of quilted bags covered with her illustrations, were a disappointment for many but these look fresh and colourful enough to top many a Spring wishlist.
In stores now, £50 each, Pig, Bunny and Cat (left) motifs

Top Five: New Male Scents

By Will Reid on March 31st, 2008

Thumbnail image for bergdorfsign.jpgLike tax and death, scent is one of life’s fickle promises. I have just returned from a trip to New York and I couldn’t help but notice how great everyone smelt (not in some strange Charlie’s Angels hair-sniffer way.) In the returning yellow cab to JFK, my week in the Big Apple flashed before my eyes as a flurry of smiling sales associates and the now dog-eared sample cards currently resonating through my conscience (and bedroom!) Whether you have a Grenouille like nose or are suspiciously blind to the sweet smell of- well smell, ‘cologne’ (or ‘scent’) is something that you need to be firmly acquainted with. The men’s fragrance market (and the cosmetics market in general) seems to be growing at the moment and there is an unbelievably wide range of scents from all the biggest designers. No longer does a few looks in a women’s show represent our male input in the industry but instead we are welcoming the right for men to truly express themselves through fashion and fragrance.

The following list is a collection of the sweetest scents on the market right now (in no particular order.)

Rich men lover designer manbags

By ShinyMedia on May 11th, 2007

Diormanbag
A recent study by the Luxury Institute revealed that when it comes to buying bags wealthy men are much more label conscious than their female counterparts.
The Luxury Institute focuses on the top 10% of America wealthy and found that men opted for designer labels 73% of the time compared to wealthy women, who went for the label 50% of the time. The most fabulous manbag I could find is this Dior confection which will set you back $1585 from e Luxury and yes it really is for men!
