DNR reports today that Marc Jacobs International has signed a contract with Staff International (a part of Diesel founder Renzo Rosso’s fashion empire) that will see Marc by Marc Jacobs Menswear expand over the next five years. Already in Rosso’s couture stable are Dsquared2, Viktor & Rolf, Maison Martin Margiela and Vivienne Westwood.

As we arrived to Neal Street this morning the queue outside the Diesel shop snaked around Earlham Street and almost spilled out onto Seven Dials.
The fuss was for Diesel’s Dirty Thirty limited edition jeans, created to celebrate thirty years of diesel, modelled by Daisy Lowe and retailing for just £30 you can see why so many people turned up for the one-day only sale.
Life begins at 30, or so they say- I’m 24 and I beg to differ. Come my 30th birthday I will become a recluse until my 50th and can rejoin society with a cane and pipe, middle age just isn’t cool. However for a denim brand a 30th birthday is the prime of its youth so lets all send our warmest birthday wishes to Italian denim fiends Diesel.
When word first spread of Hedi Slimane working on a Diesel red campaign, it originally looked like Diesel had pulled off the fashion scoop of the century. The idea of Diesel, the brand more associated with premiership footballers than fashion icons, working with Hedi Slimane was too weird to be true. Apparently Hedi thought so too, putting out a statement saying that he had “no interest at all in Renzo Rosso’s group, let alone Diesel”. Ouch. He could have just denied it.

up interesting collaborations from time to time and this is no different. The originals
denim by Diesel range is an interesting mix – if only for the fact that you
wonder why Diesel agreed to it. It’s not bad in any way, it’s just that the
pieces are just Diesel jeans with some Adidas branding attached.
