hommejeans3.jpgAs Beckham’s ‘people’ deny he’s been at all enhanced in the Armani pants department and Matt McConaughey is seen in D&G ads being hounded for his bod, it occurs to me that more than ever we men are striving for physical perfection.

More and more I am left sulking at lunch as male friends tell me they are banned from certain foods and no, before you ask, they’re not all gay. Or vain.

Matthew McConaughey at Fool’s Gold Premiere

Just last night, the city of London was buzzing with the excitement of celebrity; that of the glorious Kate Hudson and heavily scent-sponsored Matthew McConaughey. Now I’m not going to lie and pretend that Mr. McConaughey isn’t one of my favourite actors because well, even I don’t get that offended by sticking to the sartorial sidelines.

While Kate Hudson went all out in John Galliano, our male centre of attention decided to go for what I assume is a Dolce & Gabbana suit. I can’t fault the look itself- grey is in right now and the open-collar is a pleasing antidote to the stylised-Dandy of recent times. So full marks for style but what about effort? I can’t help feeling slightly miffed when someone with so much designer access neglects the right to riskier fashion.

But who am I to talk? I am sitting in my pyjamas at 1pm (Budapest time) with my just-recovered and now decidedly Hungarian laptop, moaning to myself about a lack of celebrity tailoring.

McConaughey the new face of Dolce & Gabanna Scent

McconaugheyPoor old Matthew McConaughey can’t even take his shirt off without hundreds of paparazzi invading his privacy with their long lenses. At least that seems to be the message of the new Dolce & Gabanna The One perfume ad in which Matty is followed through Venice by men with cameras just waiting to get a shot of his abs. It’s so terrible being beautiful, isn’t it, Matthew?

So it’s the paparazzi, just waiting to snap you in the altogether, rather than the fact that your shirtless in EVERY film you’re in, that means I’m more accustomed to seeing your nipples than my own? Bitch please.

Quite ironic that the man who apparently doesn’t wear deodorant because he doesn’t like to smell like someone else, is advertising a perfume but there you have it. It’s a mixed up world we live in.
