Ex-Dior Homme Designer Jordan Askill Bejewels DSM!

By Will Reid on September 22nd, 2008

JAskill1_Pendant08_b.jpgJordan Askill, a designer whose work for Dior Homme and Ksubi has cemented him as a name to keep an eye on, has launched a jewellery collection at Dover Street Market (DSM.) Dover Street Market is a fashion emporium founded by Rei Kawakubo and her husband and it has become known for its artistic installations, exclusive lines and designer collaborations. In previous years, we’ve seen a hotel room designed by Alber Elbaz of Lanvin and a Tiki-hut check-out.

Akill’s jewellery line is made up of edgy, androgynous pieces that could be worn by either guys or girls and Vogue reports that “the debut jewellery offering features bird, boy and rose motifs as fragile and rare entities – the flora, fauna and humanity of life – set in a claw to denote them as “precious memories to capture“. Lovely.

Yves Saint Laurent is going to take over DSM from July 3rd in a space created by set designer Michael Howells, who has worked on fashion shows for McQueen, Galliano and Lacroix and with Vogue and POP.

Edition 24 is a capsule collection of garments inspired by travel and will be constantly updated with new items. Stefano Pilati, YSL’s creative director will also be adding customised Edition 24 items on a regular basis.

tim walker dover street market.jpgRichard has already given you a reason to go to Dover Street Market this weekend and now there’s even more weighing up in favour of a trip to DSM. Celebrated fashion photographer Tim Walker is the inspiration behind the latest window display at Rei Kawakubo’s store.
If this appeals then make a day of it and visit the Tim Walker exhibition at the Design Museum until September. For those who don’t live in London Susie Bubble has kindly provided comprehensive coverage of the show on her website.

Grey and green Comme Des Garçons polo shirt from Dover Street Market

By admin on May 8th, 2008

Everyone is cracking out the summer wear but now the sun has come out I keep seeing one of my pet hates, beachwear as officewear.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for keeping cool but I don’t know why that equates with late ’90s surfbum look. This two-tone Comme Des Garçons polo shirt from Dover Street Market (£70) is sharp and will keep its good looks no matter how hot you get. Team with a pair of lightweight tailored bright trousers in deep blue or if you’re really hot now might be the time to go for short shorts.
