Ah, a good old pair of Brogues; the work horse of mens’ wardrobes across the globe, they’re the one pair of shoes as comfortable in the boardroom as they are down the pub.

The little pock-marked shoe has come a long way from its humble beginnings as cross-country footwear in Scotland and Ireland (the little holes were intended as drainage run-offs when passing through wet terrain) and now everyone from Kurt Geiger to Dr Martens have a fair few pairs in their catalogues.

Jude Law models for Dunhill’s summer campaign

Jude Law makes another appearance in his second series of adverts for Dunhill, which sees him in a variety of Hamptons-esque locations including beach, car, library and decking in a multitude of smart outfits.I can see where Dunhill are trying to go with Jude but it seems like he’s not quite right for the brand, and his posing skills are slightly questionable.

Kim Jones bags job at Dunhill

The world and his brother are talking about it and we at Brandish can’t be left out: congratulations go to Kim Jones who has been given the job of Creative Director for Dunhill.

It is a surprising appointment – the darling of men’s sportswear teaming up with a traditional menswear label – but a very shrewd one.  Dunhill have been trying to revitalise their brand since 2005 when Richard James was brought in, but Kim will definitely bring a breath of fresh air to the label. No one does colour quite like Kimmy and his soft-edged boy-next-door masculinity is such a strong aesthetic it will help to set Dunhill apart from their rivals.
The only bad part of the news is that the Kim Jones label will take a break so Kim can concentrate on Dunhill. Boo!
