Adidas Originals by Originals James Bond for David Beckham 2011 Fall/Winter

By Laura on October 16th, 2011

Adidas have rolled out the much anticipated third installment of the popular David Beckham / Design by J. Bond collection for Fall/Winter 2011.

The collaboration between sport and style icon David Beckham and Undefeated founder James Bond has been widely celebrated in the past, and will yet again see a contemporary range of footwear, outerwear, and accessories.

Much of the inspiration has clearly been pulled from collegiate imagery and has a very traditional American sportswear feel to it. This is something we have seen a lot of in the last two seasons. The varsity jacket in particular seems to be making a comeback. What do you make of this trend – will you be rocking the look this Fall/Winter?

Final Uniqlo +J collection Lookbook

By Laura on August 19th, 2011

A few weeks we announced that the upcoming fall/winter +J collection for Uniqlo would be the last. The lookbook is now out, and I have to say this is possibly the strongest collection yet.

There has undeniably been plenty of hype surrounding this final collection, but I can’t get enough of the contrasting colors, linear cuts and the mix of tech-infused materials with traditional fabrics.

Jil Sander’s was one of the first high-fashion designers to collaborate with a mass-market brand like this, and in many ways really set the benchmark for these types of collections. She has continually brought her own unique, dark and structural aesthetic to the Japanese retailer, and this collection is no exception.

One of the most interesting features of this collection is the mix of sportswear with highly tailored pieces. Although it might seem an unusual combination, it is a look that we are seeing quite a bit of at the moment, and something we expect to take off this winter.

The fianl J+ collection will be Available soon in Uniqlo stores the world over.

Raf Simons 2011 Fall/Winter

By Laura on August 19th, 2011

RAF SIMONS AW11 FITTING from RAFSIMONS.COM on Vimeo.

Raf Simons shows off his Fall/Winter 2011 collection through this rather interesting video. The behind the scenes video of a fitting, sees models rotate in a 360 fashion, showing you every detail of each piece.

Although I am not feeling those awful PVC looking trousers, the collection does have some great pieces, consists with the designer’s signature approach of redefining classics through new interpretations.

Behind the Seams with Joseph Abboud & Hart Schaffner Marx

By Laura on July 25th, 2011

Hart Schaffner Marx have launched their Fall/Winter 2011 collection, with a great short video featuring Joseph Abboud as he takes the viewer behind the scenes of collection photo shoot. I have been a big fan of Abboud’s classic yet sophisticated design for some time now, so was quite excited to see what he has in store for this coming season.
Based on the video we can expect to see elegant colors and textures, key sportswear basics and effortless tailoring. Take mental notes now!

London Fashion Week – Acne Fall 2011 collection

By Laura on February 23rd, 2011

When Acne creative director Jonny Johansson was asked about the Men’s Fall 2011 collection he shrugged and stated “All the tailoring—I thought that was in the moment, something fresh. I’m tired of all this heritage, the older models or whatever. It’s time for something young.” Here at Brandish we completely agree!

The collection includes a series of overcoats paired with suit pants, as well as very sartorial two-piecers. With TV influences like Mad Men the suit is becoming increasingly popular amongst younger generations and it’s labels like Acne that they’ll turn to.

The collection over all is very youthful with slightly cropped pants and low-buttoning jackets in different styles all in Italian bonded wool. The pallet sees accents of raspberry, royal blue, or teal. Johansson stated that the clothing was made for “that moment when you’re not grown up and at the same time, not a kid. The kind of sexual energy that brings.”

Christian Louboutin & Gobel’s team up to make the ugliest shoe of 2011

By Laura on February 13th, 2011

These are quite possibly the ugliest shoes I have seen in a long time. I mean it looks like the man is wearing a gold dragon on his foot!
These rather obnoxious shoes were designed by Christian Louboutin as part of an exclusive collection for Marlon Gobel’s Fall/Winter 2011 menswear line. I am just Hoping this is one designer collection, that isn’t picked up by the high street.
