Farfetch Private Sale

By admin on June 2nd, 2009

farfetch private sale raf simons b store missoni.jpg

Farfetch, the website that brings together the best from designer boutiques around Europe, is having a private sale. Admittedly there isn’t much for a credit crunch budget, but there are plenty of quality investment pieces with up to a 40% discount.

The Missoni sweater should by rights, be an eyesore, but because it’s Missoni it just works. Use as a cosy beach cover-up over some tailored grey shorts. The limited edition design means that each jumper will be different which is an added bonus. Raf Simons‘ transparent grey aviators are totally modern, whilst retaining the classic shape. If you can manage not to sit on them these will last you a long time. Fummel & Kram‘s tapeman scarf is colourful and playful, but the taupe fabric will go with a multitude of summer colours. Finally, brogues are firmly positioned as a wardrobe staple once more, and B Store’s pair scream summer.

Make like an intrepid explorer by donning a pair of Daita Kimura boots

While the whole Shiny Media team are safely ensconced at home I pity the poor souls who have actually had to drag their carcasses into work.
I wont be leaving the house for anything other than stocking up on Hob Nobs, but if you do have to brave the cold these boots would be perfect for an old-time intrepid explorer look. They’re £240 by Daita Kimura at Farfetch which is pretty pricey, but look like they would last you a lifetime.

Tuck your thick socks into your archaically befabricked trousers (I’m thinking waxed cotton or wool-lined leather), strap some tennis rackets to your feet and make like you’re off to conquer some peaks when in fact you’re only going to conquer a block of cheese via the shop next door. With your mouth.

Aquascutum orange desert boots from Farfetch

Splashing out on a pair of brightly coloured suede boots might not be your biggest priority at the moment but Aquascutum’s desert boots are pretty appealing.

Orange is one of the big colour trends to come out of womenswear this season and it’s a great shade to pep up staple menswear items like beige khakis, grey cardigans and jeans. What’s more the boots are on sale with 30% off at Farfetch so you’ve got a great excuse should you wish to treat yourself to something to perk up the post-Christmas slump.

b Store lace up Chelsea boots from Farfetch

Combining a lace up with a Chelsea boot doesn’t sound like the smartest move but this B Store shoe is marvellously executed.

In a fetching tan colour the ‘Mario’ boot teams the smart good looks of a lace up with the rugged durability of a boot and will keep you looking stylish all winter. It’s also available in black and at £199 isn’t cheap but a well-made leather boot like this is a great investment.

Farfetch, a virtual smorgasbord of menswear

By admin on October 14th, 2008

I wrote about Farfetch last week on Catwalk Queen but proportionally speaking it’s far bigger news for menswear. There aren’t many online stores that can boast designers like Jil Sander, YSL as well as newer names like Surface 2 Air all under one roof and when you consider the dearth of options on the high street a site like this is even more vital.
Here are a few of my picks from the site, a really satisfying pair of trainers, a witty patterned scarf and the Helmut Lang shirt is the most perfect shade of grey I’ve ever seen. Full product details after the cut.
