The Serpentine Summer Party: Pharrell, Gareth Pugh & Will Young

Over at Catwalk Queen we’re swooning over the women at the Serpentine Gallery Summer Party, but for once the guys were holding their own even if you discount Grayson Perry and his dress!

Ron Arad sported a colourful jacket, Gareth Pugh was obviously all in black and the wonderful Bill Nighy showed that blue and grey is great. Surprise of the evening came from Pharell, who sported a pair of knee high boots, still top marks for effort.

Womenswear gets its cues from Menswear

Gareth Pugh’s first menswear show in Paris

Gareth Pugh‘s first menswear show was greatly anticipated but having seen it I rather feel a bit of an anticlimax. Well it’s technically Topshop I suppose, and it’s not clothes either so this post is kinda losing its relevance however I shall persevere. For Topshop this (festive) season Gareth Pugh has created a Christmas tree out of those most nontraditional of materials: neon light bulbs. Gareth has used 60 neon bulbs to create this rather lack luster tree that has no tinsel, shiny glass ornaments or even a fairy straddling the peak, minimal just isn’t Christmas. But check it out for yourself, the tree will be available to view at Topshop/Topman’s flag ship store at Oxford Circus.

Loden Dager for Uniqlo

Uniqloloder

New York label Loden Dager are the latest in an
increasing line of designers to team up with Uniqlo,
creating a Spring/Summer mini collection. The collection is strong, with the
check shirt being the only really ugly piece on it. Some might say it’s a bit
dull but it’s a collection designed for high street consumption, so that
criticism is like complaining that you can’t wear Gareth Pugh’s collection to Tesco.
