I wrote about this a few weeks ago, but the H&M/Brick Lane Cycles clothing range has gone on sale today and you look at all the items and check out all the prices here. In case you missed the launch. The spin is that each item has been designed with the needs of modern cyclists in mind. So the items are technically suited to cycling, …

I guess many of these coats are being bought by outdoor …

We haven’t had a jumper post on this website for a day or two now, which is odd because as John Lewis email pointed out this morning it is only 29 sleeps until Christmas. Round about now the great jumper sale begins with high street brands traditionally slashing prices in a bid to piss off people who did their Christmas …

ALOHA!: Ten almost-tasteful Hawaiian print shirts

When the summer heat kicks up a wavy haze off the concrete city streets, we know it can be tough to resist the urge to laze around in just your lightest shirts and underwear. Yet, we just can’t accept the return of the Hawaiian shirt, this summer’s slob-chic must-have. It’s like someone covered themselves in wallpaper paste, tore the pages …

WISHLIST: H&M A/W 2009 Crushed Velvet Coat

Will Reid Brand Spotlight, Clothing, Designer Spotlight Leave a Comment

hm

The more I write about summer clothes, and slowly accept that summer isn’t actually coming, I look to next winter and start structuring my cold wardrobe. Coats are a notoriously hard thing to get right and a single inch too short or too long can ruin not only an entire look, but an entire wardrobe (well, almost.)

Matthew Williamson launches menswear range for H&M

admin Gallery, News Leave a Comment

Following on from the high profile launch of Matthew Williamson’s H&M range for women comes his men’s collection.

As you can tell the collection takes inspiration from Williamson’s mix of traditional Brit and colourful hedonism, with brights, seersucker (a brilliant summer fabric) and tie dye.

Fashion extraordinaire and all-round legend Karl Lagerfeld recently told the press that “an H&M dress and a Chanel dress can look the same in a small photo, but not in real life” and explained that he isn’t ready to take the Chanel label online. However, Opening Ceremony (the great albeit not couture label) have just opened their website and online shop.

Major fashion retailer H&M has got together with Japanese fashion ninjas Commes des Garcons to bring you the latest in affordable fashion. H&M is not new to collaborating with the big wigs of fashion, their ’04 colab with Kaiser Karl Lagerfeld springs immediately to mind, so the new line of clothes has been eagerly awaited for months now and has sprung many an internet debate mostly focusing on the cost of the pieces which are to be expected to be on the pricey side for the rock bottom retailer H&M.

Hadley Freeman says enough to high fashion on the high street

admin News Leave a Comment

comme des garcons hm pictures.jpg

Rare are the occasions when I disagree with Hadley Freeman, there was a bit of fuss about bright opaque tights when her book came out but on the whole she’s a good ‘un.
Today in Guardian though Hadders was less than enthusiastic about the Comme des Garçons collection for H&M saying: “while Comme’s granddad styles might look like the apogee of chic when done with the highest quality of fabrics and sold in the snootiest of department stores, the budget versions, one suspects, will have a different look.”

Comme des Garçons for H&M revealed

admin Designer Spotlight, News, Trends Leave a Comment

Pictures of the forthcoming Comme des Garçons collection for H&M have been leaked to Fashionista and my intial verdict is thumbs up for the menswear. The women’s collection might be a little overly quirky (I’m reserving final opinion for when the range hits the shops) but the menswear is spot on, no pun intended. Rei Kawakubo has obviously retained CDG’s spirit in a surprisingly mainstream collection. From what I can see it’s a mix of quality tailoring with some well-placed, original flourishes like bias-cut fabrics and contrasting buttonholes.

H&M to push the boundaries of their menswear collection

H&M have decided to put a little more elbow grease into their menswear line, focusing on a sort of premium range that will be at thirty stores worldwide. Although no mention is made of COS in the article, it’s likely that the success of their upscale big brother has led them to the conclusion that men will gladly pay more for higher quality.

Roberto Cavalli unlikely to do another diffusion line

admin Designer Spotlight, Entertainment, News Leave a Comment

Roberto Cavalli’s H&M diffusion line was a major success sales wise but he’s unlikely to do another range, if a recent Telegraph interview was anything to go by. In the interview, Cavalli also stated that he “detest(s) men – dressed or naked” – which goes a long way to explaining why his menswear range for H&M was so awful.
