Love him or hate him (I hate him if you wanted to know, have I not mentioned before?) but Kanye West is back here on Brandish with a new music video and once again proving that he is a modern Renaissance Man he has directed this latest effort. The video for the song “Good Morning” is animated by influential Japanese artist and animator (obviously) Takashi Murakami and depicts Kanye as the famous bear late for his graduation.
Seeing as Mr. West is an established favourite here at Brandish, we feel it only fair to link to a sneak preview of his Pastelle line. As until now pictures of Pastelle clothing have been a rare joy and although the line is due out in November, this doesn’t look set to change. If Vman went through a load of hassle to get the pictures – the tagline reads ‘if only you knew what we went through to get these pictures’ – what hope is there for the rest of us?
I can’t seem to go a day without mentioning Kanye West lately, but this complex post is an interesting one on his various collaborations and the likeliness of them ever appearing in stores. Let us know which one you think will be out first in the poll after the jump.
Since everyone from Scott Baio to DMX has a reality show these days, why not Kanye West? That’s what HBO have been thinking but apparently they need a writer to “capture Kanye in the right way”. This isn’t the first time West has featured on HBO, with an Entourage cameo to his name.
Fatlace isn’t particularly known for it’s politically correct stance, but nontheless when they asked whether Kanye West was homosexual or not I was still a little surprised. Surely the question should be ‘Does it matter whether Kanye West is homosexual?’ (and the answer should be no).

Someone at the London Paper clearly reads Brandish. Last week we wrote about the new C.O.L.O.U.R.S video and briefly mentioned Taz of Sa-Ra as a possible style icon. Lo and Behold, Taz is featured in the London Paper today.
This is only vaguely fashion related but who can resist Brandish favourites Kanye West and Andre 3000 doing a bit of choreographed dancing? The other partakers in this slightly bizarre video are beatmakers Sa-Ra and P.Diddy’s former butler-turned-singer Fonzworth Bentley. Together they call themselves C.O.L.O.U.R.S which stands for cool outrageous lovers of uniquely raw style.
Just in case you weren’t sure it existed, here’s a sneak peek at Kanye West’s upcoming Pastelle line. West wore this hoody to Dior Homme’s Paris show and it’s called ‘The Warrior’, due to its design being inspired by a suit of Armour. The warrior is made from several materials, including leather, felt & mesh, so we can assume Pastelle will be a mid to high end brand. With most assuming that Pastelle would get pushed back, it’s nice to see a little piece of it appear.
Although the Lanvin x Acne collaboration looks to be women’s only, they’re still teaming up to release some high tops that can (presumably) also be worn by men. At the moment, there’s next to no information available on it, apart from the fact that’ll be out in November and that Kanye West will probably buy them. From the looks of it, we can assume that it will be the classic Lanvin high top shape with Acne denim on top.
Last Friday, Jay-Z turned up on Jonathan Ross and as the guestlist was revealed, I was delighted to see good ol’ Jay-Z rocking the Geek-Chic look. But sadly for Mr. Z (can we call him that?) Matt Damon had tried the look over two months before. Usually an all-round innovator and owner of his own label, I have come to expect more of this man with those infamous 99 problems.
Kanye West is totally gushing over the Burberry fashion show on his blog…
With most sales selling out within hours these days, it’s refreshing to see that the Men a la mode sale still has stock an entire week after it started. There’s so many pieces on sale, you’ll probably be suffering from ’embarrassment of riches’ syndrome. I just made that syndrome, but I bet someone out there has it.
Seeing as Rykiel Homme is closing down, their clothes will make the transition from good piece to collector’s item. Before that transition is made, a lot of it goes on sale. This brings us to these Rykiel Homme jeans.
Esquire magazine’s best dressed list has been gathering attention lately – mostly for not featuring David Beckham. Hopefully, other magazines will follow suit and realise that they’re not contractually obliged to include Mr Beckham on the list. People who did make the list include Jeremy Paxman, Barack Obama, Lapo Elkann, Fabio Capello, Christian Bale and Lupe Fiasco.
These are for the kind of person who thinks Razorlight are the greatest band in the world, reads FHM and thinks that Kanye West geezer has some great tunes. If you’ve ever wanted to look out of touch with pop culture, then you can get these shutter shades from ASOS
It’s rare to see a hip-hop artist so readily accepted by the fashion elite like Kanye West has been. The only other contender is Andre 3000. However, Mr. West is on a level of his own when it comes to designer collaborations. In addition to his Air Yeezys, his clothing label Pastelle also has an upcoming sunglasses collection with Ksubi.
At the moment, Kanye West can seemingly do no wrong. Ignoring the downsides – and the urge to make an incredibly tasteless joke – things are going pretty well for Mr West. So, you can understand the palpable excitement around his new trainers called the Air Yeezy’s. But are they any good?
First things first – why are the pictures on Yoox.com of such poor quality? They make Asos.com’s pictures look like a Rankin masterpiece. I wouldn’t usually complain about these things, but when it comes to this Dior Homme silver suit, you need high quality pictures to make a decision.
