Grey cardigans are a bit of an obsession for me, and with reason. The colour looks great with neutrals or brights and it makes the perfect unobtrusive cover-up.
This grey cardigan from Alexander McQueen’s McQ range has got an asymmetric fastening with ruching detail. The detailing is subtle enough for everyday wear buta bit more interesting than your average cardie. Does the world need anymore cardigans? No but the world doesn’t need another drunk blond hick, but we have Jessica Simpson and I love her. These cardigans and Jessica Simpson do have a few things in common: we don’t need them, there’s nothing really special about them, we have loads of them but we kinda like them.
Beauty & Youth has gotten together with Lacoste to create these bad boys that could provide a staple piece to any wardrobe. Coming in red, streaky grey marl and navy -which is the nicest in my opinion- with contrasting stripes on the cuffs and button lining.
Hopefully these will not be restricted to the Japanese market and should be available soon from a boutique near you! Jump through for a more detailed look.

Polo necks are still too Alan Partridge for me; as much as I love our man from Norwich the thought of actually wearing one fills me with dread. Polo necks conjure up images of saintly vicars and friend’s dads, not high fashion.
Adam Kimmel‘s slouchy cowl-neck version of the polo is perfect for fellow fence-sitters, you can roll it up if you’re feeling brave or keep the collar down. As the old saying goes, ‘another day, another Fred Perry collaboration’. This time with Tomoki Sukezane. It does make a mockery of the whole ‘Fred Perry is for fans of style not fashion’ stance though, as the company are clearly using collaborations as a means to follow trends.
Cynical nit picking aside, this collaboration is right on trend for autumn with the chunky knits and preppy stylings. The knits are made from a cotton and cashmere blend and are available in the four colours above. As it is a Japan based collaboration, I’m not sure when they’ll be available to Europe or America but when news appears, we’ll let you know.

Thom Browne’s signature look of shrunken suit, sports socks and loafers has cemented him as a style icon for both sexes and his shows have even inspired my own trend reports. Now, Style.com has talked to him about his exercise regime (although running daily on tracks including Central Park, the Eiffel Tower and the Imperial Gardens of Japan are a luxury rather inaccessible to us hoi polloi.) But I really must warn you that the vid may leave you feeling slightly inferior- after all how many of us can claim to have completed 15 marathons worldwide and still be running in Thom Browne knitwear?

About a week ago, my colleague Jason posted on a pair of pretty cool purple trainers. Continuing on the trend of purple items (remember what I said about us inheriting last’s season’s woman trends?) I bring you this Shag Fleece Hoody from American Apparel.
It is zip-up and light enough to wear during the summer and thin enough to layer with other items during the colder months- British summer included. It is unisex and therefore more fitted which for some is a devil in disguise. It has a kangaroo pocket and ribbed waistband and cuffs. The shag is on the outside which may sound cheap but trust me is better than the knit-rag effect of having it anywhere else. Available in brown, mustard, blue and soon black, it is little wonder that this is one of the brand’s highest rated items.

The sun is finally here. The heat, however,
isn’t. This leaves everyone in that familiar
‘too hot for a thick jumper/too cold for just a t-shirt’ scenario. The solution
to this would be a light jacket layered with a thin jumper, like this pima
cotton v-neck.
This jumper is thin without being
see-through (unlike those awful All Saints versions of this design), and you
can always roll it up – which is the main trend this summer, for tops and
trousers – when the weather gets a little hot. This top is available in the
Ralph Lauren online store for $97.50. They don’t ship to the UK though, so you
may have to visit your local boutique.

Is it just me or are we seeing a crossover of trends between the worlds of guy and girl’s fashion?
An example are the India-inspired outfits at Armani Privé Spring/Summer
2007 that found their way into Rei Kawakubo’s menswear collection for
Autumn/Winter via style icon Andrew Logan (as pointed out by Brandish’s
own Tim Hunter).For this season, we saw velvet shirts at Dries Van
Noten not unlike those at Christopher Kane Spring/Summer 2008 and the
flowers on lapels at the Lanvin Menswear show could be seen as an
incredibly subtle interpretation of last season’s (female) trend for
floral prints.
