Ah, a good old pair of Brogues; the work horse of mens’ wardrobes across the globe, they’re the one pair of shoes as comfortable in the boardroom as they are down the pub.

The little pock-marked shoe has come a long way from its humble beginnings as cross-country footwear in Scotland and Ireland (the little holes were intended as drainage run-offs when passing through wet terrain) and now everyone from Kurt Geiger to Dr Martens have a fair few pairs in their catalogues.

Whether you’re going for wingtips or semis, black, tan or multi-coloured offerings, we’ve pulled together our ten favourite pairs to put the Spring in your step this season.

Does the perfect men’s summer sandal exist?

By admin on June 4th, 2009

Summer footwear for men is tough, flip flops are too Antipodean surfer, don’t even think about action sandals or jesus trainers and slides (those slip on leather sandals) just have too many linen-trousered boyband connotations.

Retro 100% leather sandals seem one of the most acceptable ways forward, we featured a selection of woven shoes and sandals recently and Seb namechecked an awesome APC pair in his summer picks. KG’s Soulac Sur Mer (such an evocative name!) sandals are a great warm tan colour which should improve any pasty foot which goes into it! Only £60 from Liberty they look like they’ll last for a few summers to come, both in terms of wear and style.

Kurt Geiger Lost Sounds deck shoe

By admin on August 20th, 2008

My summer romance with deck shoes was coming to an end but then Kurt Geiger’s ‘Lost Sounds’ shoes (£55) appeared on the scene and made me reconsider my winter strategy. First of all they’re three tone which is always a surefire bet for a good shoe, and the colours themselves are a tonal duo of greys with a shot of orange guaranteed to beat the winter blues.

Worn with a pair of socks in a clashing bright or a stripy grey this is a summer romance that might make it till next spring.

Fly ‘Flag’ boot on sale at Kurt Geiger

By Isabelle on March 19th, 2007

I have a soft sport for Fly shoes, and at the moment Kurt Geiger have got some Fly Flag boots reduced to £45. It’s different without being try-hard, I like the utilitarian rubber heel and toe which is offset by the red stitching and golden suede. I also like the way they have a nostalgic feel without being to retro or costumey. Kurt Geiger have only got sizes 41, 42, and 43 left so best get your skates on if you love them as much as I do.
