Style – Pretty Green Orange Panel Festival Jacket

By Stefano on February 14th, 2013

If there’s one man who has done a few festivals in his time it is Liam Gallagher. Mind you he probably hasn’t done too much queuing for the toilets of chomping on vom burgers, but we will give him the benefit of the doubt as his label, Pretty Green, has just unveiled a series of festival jackets.

The most eye catching of the range of this little orange (apparently this year’s colour number say people in the know). Partially inspired by the maritime thing – that is going on here - it is made from lightweight nylon and has colour panels and full front zip closure. There’s also a hood to fend off the inevitable rain.

There are also plenty of pockets for you to keep your essentials in and it has elasticated cuffs and an adjustable waist.

Yours for £85. It is also available in blue and black and khaki and blue.

If that’s a bit pricey then Primark has some really good cheapies.

Style Safari: Pretty Green White Polka Dot Jersey Polo

By Stefano on January 14th, 2013

The polka dot shirts round I ran the other day proved very popular, so here’s another one to add to the list courtesy of Liam Gallagher’s Pretty Green label.

It is a white polo in cotton with a slightly unusual small polka dot design, it also sports the Pretty Green logo and is also available in navy. I think it more 80s than a lot of the clothes the label produces.

Yours for £65.

Here’s the original polka dot shirt round up.

Everything you ever wanted to know about Duffle Coats – from Scots Indie bands to Harriet Harman

By Stefano on December 12th, 2012

In some ways Duffle Coats are now classics that in theory anyone should be able to wear at any time. However unless you buy a smart one you run two risks. 1 You might end up looking a little too much like Paddington Bear. 2 Cheap ones can look a bit scruffy and won’t do for anything approaching a formal occasion.

However for long winter walks with dog, fidgeting on cold seats at football grounds or just posing by the South Bank they are ideal. In the gallery there is a section of five rather cool Duffle coats, but before we get there here are a few things you may or may not know about them.

1 They date from WW2 where they were standard issue to much of the Navy mainly in tan rather than black.

2 Their popularity in the 1950s largely stems from the huge number of coats that were bought from military surplus stores.

3 Gloverall, a firm originally set up to sell the army surplus coats, started making their own in the late 50s and what we know today as a Duffle Coat – think leather fastenings and Buffalo horn toggles with a double faced checkback fabric – stems from their original designs.

4 They were ubiquitous on the CND marches of the 50s and early 60s worn largely by students and teamed up with French cigarettes and trad jazz records. I am sure Ian Carmichael wears one in the film Lucky Jim, but I can’t find the pic to prove it.

5 Although they have always been available they have had brief period of being very fashionable in the 80s check out the priceless pic of Harriet Harman wearing one) and the 90s (mainly thanks to the Gallagher Brothers).

6 These days they are often associated with Scottish bands – think Belle & Sebastian and Franz Ferdinand.

Pics from PA Images and Gloverall (check out their site for some more amazing Duffle shots!)

The priciest of the bunch, this coat from Our Legacy is the classic Duffle style given a slightly urban twist. It is made from heavyweight, rigid Italian melton wool blend fabric has concealed horn buttons, and a single horn hook toggle at the top, with a leather loop. Our Legacy

Preview: Liam Gallagher’s new clothing label, Pretty Green

By Kimberley Foster on March 20th, 2009

From Catwalk QueenThis has to be the strangest news that I have read in a while (in the last 24 hours, at least). Liam Gallagher is getting his hands on the rag trade by launching his own fashion label, Pretty Green. Nope, I’m not joking either.

It seems the Oasis frontman has his sights set on fashion, why? Because “he likes clothes.” Fair enough I guess. The label is beginning with menswear, with a limited edition collection of classic pieces including trench coats, knit, footwear and t-shirts. Pretty green or pretty bad? You decide. “Love Is Blind…” – True Or False?

By Will Reid on April 4th, 2008

vanity.JPGEveryone has had that person they wanted to impress; the girl, the guy, the parent, the boss. And what better medium than fashion? Whether it’s the Louboutin slutty-stiletto (for the girls let me say) or one of Armani’s finest suits, the right look can make or break a first date.

So when Mick Jagger, a living legend with everything but height and anti-wrinkle cream on his side, took his fiancée L’Wren Scott (6′ 4″ to Mick’s 5′ 10″) to the premiere of ‘Shine a Light’ (the Rolling Stones’ new ‘rockumentary’) it was clear that he felt the need to give himself a bit of a sartorial boost. So how true is it that “love isn’t finding a perfect person, it’s seeing an imperfect person perfectly?”

Read on for more celeb examples and rather mean imagery.
