This Reader Request comes from Sarah, for a chilly boyfriend with no central heating. Come winter time, in the words of TLC I ain’t too proud to beg (for thermals). M&S should be your first port of call, they have long johns, thermal socks and nifty cosy shirts which have masses of grandpa chic appeal. Fellow old-school retailer John Lewis is also unbeatable for some winter warmth.
Thermal tops and underwear are all great, but if the cold is really getting to you drown your sorrows with a handy Ace of Spades hip flask, I’m sure TLC would approve.

If you have a fashion dilemma or you just want to chat drop me an email, or write on our Blog Network wall.

Purple tipped to go from strength to strength this autumn

By ShinyMedia on March 12th, 2008

Uniqlo_purple_aubergine_cardigan
According to Drapers purple is set to make a lasting impression on menswear wardrobes this autumn but I’m not convinced. Steve Cochrane, managing director of independent department store
Psyche in Middlesbrough, said: "Purple is already a big colour and is
going to get bigger. Lilac is popular now, but it’s going to be full-on
purple for autumn." Shades from lavender to plum have proved pretty
popular with buyers but they’ve shied away from block colours opting
instead for stripes or checks.

There are lots of hot colours around at the moment, -brights like coral and sky blue and neutral shades of beige, grey and taupe are still looking fresh, but purple seems to be a bit of a faddy shade. Trend colours are always a bit hit and miss and can sometimes be a bit of an obvious fashion choice. Having said that Uniqlo have a merino wool cardigan on offer in a pretty subtle aubergine colour which I could go for. Are you a purple fan? Take our poll!

Granddad jumpers: who wins the war?

By admin on December 13th, 2007

Grandad

Now that V-necks are the norm, you’ll need
to go that extra mile to stand out in a jumper. The granddad design look on
your jumper is probably too kerrazy for most people, which means it’ll be
perfect for the fashion forward.

Just how far can you go? Well that’s the
question that no-one in particular is asking me. I’m going to answer it
anyway. The Junk
De Luxe jumper
(top right) is more of a striped jumper than a design one,
but it’s getting there. You may have to team this with a shirt and tie to pull
off the full effect.
