Missoni Men’s SS10 Catwalk Show

By admin on June 24th, 2009

A retro silhouette dominated the Missoni collection, it was all cuffed trousers and shirts teamed with trenches and faded denims.

Patchwork knits and David Byrne-esque tailoring carried on the throwback theme. Hints of safariwear came through in the muted palette of washed-out neutrals hinted and sherbet accents provided a delicate burst of colour.

Best worn: while being a foreign correspondent in the Sahara.

Farfetch Private Sale

By admin on June 2nd, 2009

farfetch private sale raf simons b store missoni.jpg

Farfetch, the website that brings together the best from designer boutiques around Europe, is having a private sale. Admittedly there isn’t much for a credit crunch budget, but there are plenty of quality investment pieces with up to a 40% discount.

The Missoni sweater should by rights, be an eyesore, but because it’s Missoni it just works. Use as a cosy beach cover-up over some tailored grey shorts. The limited edition design means that each jumper will be different which is an added bonus. Raf Simons‘ transparent grey aviators are totally modern, whilst retaining the classic shape. If you can manage not to sit on them these will last you a long time. Fummel & Kram‘s tapeman scarf is colourful and playful, but the taupe fabric will go with a multitude of summer colours. Finally, brogues are firmly positioned as a wardrobe staple once more, and B Store’s pair scream summer.

Missoni button-neck knit

By admin on September 10th, 2008

missoni knit jumper.jpg
Autumn has arrived and with it comes all those lovely warm autumnal colours like aubergine, pumpkin and burgundy. Missoni‘s knit button neck jumper combines all of these with a buttercup yellow, a navy and a grey to stop it looking too fusty.
The deep v-neck will allow you to show off a t-shirt, clashing shirt, or even dare I say it a polo neck. Get it from Browns for £430; winter layering has never been so hot.

Milan Fashion Week Catwalk Report – Missoni

By admin on January 16th, 2008

For AW08, Angela Missoni has taken over menswear designing duties from her brother Luca and created a collection which has a much more mature man in mind. That man is her father, Ottavio who founded the fashion house with his wife Rosita (after meeting her at the 1948 Olympic games in London, where he was competing as a swimmer, fact fans).
Unfortunately it seems as though her father might have been shaped like a tombstone on legs as all the models look as wide as they are tall. This is what happens when you tuck a bulky jumper into the waistband of your trousers.

Brandish Pick of the Blogs

By ShinyMedia on January 15th, 2008

GgbsienceofsleepWhoWhatWearDaily have temporarily branched out into menswear giving us a rundown of their eight favourite fashionable fellows. Adam Brody looks particularly good and even Adam Levine from non-band
Moron 5 is well-dressed.
Coherent isn’t beating around the bush where Prada’s new advert is concerned and he’s right, you either love Sasha Pivovarova’s demonic stare or you don’t.
Style Salvage have got a great post on Jil Sander’s catwalk show, but I got totally distracted by the post about Gael Garcia Bernal’s aubergine suit in Science of Sleep which is one of my favourite films.
As if I needed another reason to want to go back to New York, Coolhunting have been checking out A.P.C’s discount store in Williamsburg.
SavoirVivreNY is another convert to pleated pants as he features a great pair by Missoni.
