Nike Waffle Racer vintage-style trainers

By admin on July 31st, 2008

nike waffle racer vintage.jpgOld-school trainers are the best, I’m personally partial to dad’s favourite the Hi-Tec Squash but these Nike Waffle Racers are pretty close to the real thing.

They’re especially made to look exactly like their thirty year old predecessors even down to the aged laces (which I have on good authority aren’t all that as they look a little yellow and odd). So get yourself a pair of new laces and head down to Size? where they’re £50.

Nike re-retro the AM90 Infrareds, just because

By admin on July 10th, 2008

nikeinf.jpgNews has emerged this week that one of the most popular colourways of any Nike shoe ever is being re-released…again. The AM90 Infrared is on its umpteenth retro. If you’re yet to own a pair and are feeling curious, expect the following:

- Massive initial rush (expect to overpay or spend weeks searching fruitlessly)

- Cooling off period, with stacks of pairs taking up shelf space at your local TK Maxx/Footlocker for most of the year. And once those are gone…

- Another massive rush for the 3 pairs that are left in the whole country.

Rinse, repeat in another two years.

Cassette Playa x Nike Blazer Hi

By admin on May 19th, 2008

Despite being branded a Nu-rave label, Cassette Playa have outgrown that fad and seem to only be getting stronger. With a collaboration with Uniqlo under their belt, they’re now teaming up with Nike to design a pair of Blazer Hi’s.

Made from patent leather, the colourway is certainly unique. I doubt many will have outfits to match, but that’s hardly the point with these limited edition trainers. The various colours on these trainers – ranging from apricot to purple – make these hard to work into an outfit, but I’d like to see anyone who could pull it off. They’re due out this summer and would be available in all your usual Sneakerfreaky places.

Nike Considered Terra CI

By admin on May 9th, 2008

nike terra ci sneaker considered.jpg
Nike have released a new model of their Considered range of trainers, the Terra CI which they call an earth-friendly adventure must-have. Never mind that when I go on an adventure the first thing I bring with me is some booze these trainers have got a certain lego-like appeal. Kinda Balenciaga at a stretch?

They’re made from recycled mesh and a mysterious material called Phylon but the best/worst thing about them depending on your opinion is the shoelace fastened sole which makes them look like a Michel Gondry creation.

Nike Air Yeezy

By admin on April 22nd, 2008

At the moment, Kanye West can seemingly do no wrong. Ignoring the downsides – and the urge to make an incredibly tasteless joke – things are going pretty well for Mr West. So, you can understand the palpable excitement around his new trainers called the Air Yeezy’s. But are they any good?

As much as I want to like them, I’d have to say no. It’s just too busy. The design seems to be going in several different directions, ending up with a trainer that looks like four trainers cut and pasted into one. That said, I do have a preference for clean and simple trainers, so maybe these will appeal to those who like their Dunks splattered in different colours.

Lee Trench Coat – Yes, you read that right

By admin on April 2nd, 2008

lee jacket.JPG

If, for some bizarre reason, you decided to
write a list of all the labels you expected to bring out trenches built for
spring, I bet Lee wouldn’t even feature on your list. If they did feature on
your pointless list, then they’d be way down the bottom, after Nike or

But guess what? They’ve only gone and made
a beige
trench coat
. I know. I’m as shocked as you are. I’m surprised that more
national newspapers aren’t covering this. But I digress. This coat is perfect
for spring due to the light material and beige colouring, which lends itself to
any number of outfit combinations. The coat costs £105 and is available from

Paul Smith Socks – everybody needs the essentials

By admin on February 1st, 2008

Don’t underestimate the power of socks.
Okay, it’s not like they can put you in a chokehold or anything – but they can
ruin a perfectly put together outfit. Match your Nike running socks with a pair
of shoes and you’ll look like you get style tips from Larry David, regardless
of well dressed you are. Put it this way; if you have a brown pair of shoes,
you need these Paul
Smith socks

The best thing about the sales is the
amount of essentials you can get for Topman prices. These fine cotton socks are
available at £8, 50% off the previous price. Make sure to stock up on enough
sale essentials to get you through the next couple of seasons and then repeat
the same routine this time next year.

Valentine’s day Air Force Ones

By admin on January 11th, 2008

Ever tried saying I love you with trainers?
No? Well now you can with these Valentine’s day Air Force Ones ($79.99). Nike are clearly determined to be ahead of the Valentines
curve and have started selling what are basically red AF1′s since the start of

Also, seeing as these are women’s trainers,
it’s not made entirely clear whether you’re supposed to buy her a pair (she may
not even like AF1′s) or you’re supposed to wear them yourself as a symbol of
your undying love for her and Nike. Seeing as they run up to size 11, I’d say
the latter.

Nike Vandals

By admin on December 21st, 2007

Whilst Vandals aren’t one of Nike’s elite
trainers, they are a mainstay. That said, the plain varieties can be a little
dull. That’s why these Vandals
stand out. The design is also just wild enough to stand out whilst not looking like clown shoes.

These are technically womens shoes but don’t
let that stop you, they’re available in sizes up to 12 (English 11) and cost

McFly Nike Trainers

By Isabelle on April 26th, 2007

An online petition to make the trainers from Back to the Future 2 available for the masses is underway at McFly 2015. The self-lacing trainers have acquired mythical status, with a strong fanbase clamouring for their commercial production. I’ve managed to find a clip of the scene and to be honest they look a bit stupid, but if you’re a massive fan fulfill your destiny and sign the petition.

Transformer Trainer

By ShinyMedia on April 25th, 2007

The wonderful Manolo posted about these transformer trainers today that Japanese company Takara are making. They go from miniature trainers complete with laces to fantastic toy robots, but I don’t think you can wear them! You can get Convoy, above, or the evil Megatron (see after the jump) or both if you want to do robo-battle. It’s available from May for about $30, and you can pay an extra few bucks to make sure the boxes arrive in pristine condition for all you collecting freaks out there.

Nike ‘Fallen Heroes’ range inspired by Milli Vanilli, Vanilla Ice and Pee Wee Herman

By Isabelle on April 10th, 2007

Nike have released a ‘Fallen Hero’ range of sneakers in which they pay homage to one hit wonder Vanilla Ice, Milli Vanilli who were exposed as fakes then either Milli or Vanilli killed himself, and Pee Wee Herman who found out that masturbating in a porn cinema is not compatible with being a children’s presenter. Click on the thumbnail to see the disturbing insole in Pee Wee’s trademark grey and red colours showing a figure, sitting alone in a cinema, hand on ‘lap’ and click the link to see a picture of the Vanilla Ice shoe.
