The Serpentine Summer Party: Pharrell, Gareth Pugh & Will Young

By admin on July 10th, 2009

Over at Catwalk Queen we’re swooning over the women at the Serpentine Gallery Summer Party, but for once the guys were holding their own even if you discount Grayson Perry and his dress!

Ron Arad sported a colourful jacket, Gareth Pugh was obviously all in black and the wonderful Bill Nighy showed that blue and grey is great. Surprise of the evening came from Pharell, who sported a pair of knee high boots, still top marks for effort.

As part of their A/W 2008 line BBC has collaborated with the artist Rockin’ Jelly Bean on this pair of crew neck sweaters, available in white and grey and costing a recession ignoring $190 they are a really nice piece and a potential collectors item.

WISHLIST: Bape ‘Panda’ Hoodie

By Will Reid on October 13th, 2008

This season is one of continued focus on shape; the tulip skirt, the peplum, the over-sized collar. I have always leaned towards a slimmer-fit for hoodies and trousers but this season I plan to try something new. This ‘Panda‘ hoodie from Bape fits the bill perfectly, it is quite baggy and voluminous but it has a fitted waist resulting in a highly fashionable silhouette.

There are two types of the hoodie (one in fleece and one in cotton) and four possible colours (although the black is exclusive to the Bape store in Aoyama, Japan! Buy now for pre-Pharrell originality!

Pharrell removes tattoos with new skin

By admin on July 2nd, 2008

pharrell williams nerd tattoo.jpgNERD‘s Pharrell Williams is undergoing a radical treatment to remove the tattoos he’s accumulated over the years. He’s obviously outgrown his ink saying: “It’s going to be pricey, but f**k it, it’s worth it. I got fire on my arms! I’m a grown man!”

Pharrell explains the strange procedure which isn’t for the faint-hearted: “There’s an institute called the Wake Forest Institute in North Carolina for Regenerative Skin Treatment. It’s basically like getting a skin graft, but you’re not taking skin from your ass or your legs. These guys actually grow the skin for you.”

Isle of Wight Festival: Tim Booth, Iggy Pop and Pharrell Williams

By admin on June 16th, 2008

tim booth james isle of wight festival.jpgWhatever happened to Tim Booth?

These pictures taken at the Isle of Wight festival over the weekend are a million miles away from the foppish youth I remember from the early ’90s. I know twenty years have passed -god forbid anyone should ruthlessly pick apart my looks in twenty years time; but that is never an excuse for a shaved head and overcompensating beard. Masking baldness with a freshly razored head is so outdated now that I’d prefer to see a combover than a baby soft shiny pate.

And is it just me or do I spy a touch of Just For Men on the goatee? I’m not even going to start on the soul patch. See after the jump for some more inspiring looks from Pharrell Williams and Iggy Pop.

Nicole Richie, Pharell and err…Mike Tyson attend the Bathing Ape Store Opening in L.A

By Will Reid on April 28th, 2008

bape.jpg

While Richard reported only two weeks ago of Tokyo’s willingness to queue for Bape goods, the label managed a slightly more A-list attendance for their LA store opening. Forget members of the public and imagine more the likes of Mike Tyson, Nicole Richie and Japanese fashion-darling artist Takashi Murakami. There was no M&S mob or Primark-passionates but only those able to afford the “diamond-encrusted A Bathing Ape Casio watch customized by Jacob the Jeweler” (*cough cough* Pharrell.) The store opened on Wednesday night in West Hollywood and looks set to only expand the brand beloved of fashion-followers everywhere.

Continue reading to see a picture of Kanye West in trousers that I sorely wish were mine.
