H&M x Comme des Garçons website goes live

By Jonathan Smith on October 28th, 2008

H&M.jpg

The H&M Comme des Garçons collab website has gone live and it has prices and everything! Speaking of the prices it all seems to be reasonable and has certainly piqued my curiosity enough to put a mark in my diary for the worldwide release which is of course 13th of November.

The collection does genuinely look really nice and far better than the usual H&M attempts. I usually don’t buy into the business of convenient collaborations between high fashion and high street but this one has really grabbed me by the balls so I can only recommend that you get yourself down to one of the select H&M stores on the release date.

Ex-Dior Homme Designer Jordan Askill Bejewels DSM!

By Will Reid on September 22nd, 2008

JAskill1_Pendant08_b.jpgJordan Askill, a designer whose work for Dior Homme and Ksubi has cemented him as a name to keep an eye on, has launched a jewellery collection at Dover Street Market (DSM.) Dover Street Market is a fashion emporium founded by Rei Kawakubo and her husband and it has become known for its artistic installations, exclusive lines and designer collaborations. In previous years, we’ve seen a hotel room designed by Alber Elbaz of Lanvin and a Tiki-hut check-out.

Akill’s jewellery line is made up of edgy, androgynous pieces that could be worn by either guys or girls and Vogue reports that “the debut jewellery offering features bird, boy and rose motifs as fragile and rare entities – the flora, fauna and humanity of life – set in a claw to denote them as “precious memories to capture“. Lovely.

Comme des Garçons for H&M revealed

By admin on August 18th, 2008

Pictures of the forthcoming Comme des Garçons collection for H&M have been leaked to Fashionista and my intial verdict is thumbs up for the menswear. The women’s collection might be a little overly quirky (I’m reserving final opinion for when the range hits the shops) but the menswear is spot on, no pun intended. Rei Kawakubo has obviously retained CDG’s spirit in a surprisingly mainstream collection. From what I can see it’s a mix of quality tailoring with some well-placed, original flourishes like bias-cut fabrics and contrasting buttonholes.

Can I put in a request for polka dots to take the crown from stripes? We just need to find a successor to plaid for next spring. Answers on a postcard please.

Tim Walker at Dover Street Market

By admin on May 20th, 2008

tim walker dover street market.jpgRichard has already given you a reason to go to Dover Street Market this weekend and now there’s even more weighing up in favour of a trip to DSM. Celebrated fashion photographer Tim Walker is the inspiration behind the latest window display at Rei Kawakubo’s store.
If this appeals then make a day of it and visit the Tim Walker exhibition at the Design Museum until September. For those who don’t live in London Susie Bubble has kindly provided comprehensive coverage of the show on her website.

You Would If You Could: Busy Boots

By Will Reid on April 23rd, 2008

gold+boots.jpgAfter too many torturous nights of Cotton Eye Joe and Cowboy-clad cankles, customised boots have been effectively ruined. From D&G to Calvin Klein, embellished boots have done the rounds this season and I want in on the action. My brown leather Chelsea’s have blurred into wardrobe background and now I’m looking out for glittery, brightly coloured boots without any Simon Cowell heel. I don’t want hi-tops or Converse-style trainers but proper Dior Homme-on-a-budget boots.

Comme des Garcons for H&M coming to a store near you in Autumn!

By admin on April 3rd, 2008

H&M commes des garcons collection menswear.jpgThe closest I’ve come to being this excited about an H&M collaboration is the forthcoming Marimekko collection, but the news that Comme Des Garçons are planning a collection with H&M surely tops them all.

The collection will include womenswear and menswear as well as accessories and a unisex fragrance which I can’t wait to sniff! Rei Kawakubo, Comme des Garçons’ designer and founder is also producing a few children’s pieces.

Margareta van den Bosch, who recently took semi-retirement but is still at H&M as creative advisor said: “Rei Kawakubo has been at the top of our wish list for a long time and we are thrilled that she has chosen to collaborate with us.” Visit Catwalk Queen to keep reading.
